The multiplayer. This looks amazing. |
Re: God of War: Ascencion
This is one Collector's Edition that actually seems like a really good deal :
God Of War Ascension Collector's Edition Includes Kratos Statue, Bonus DLC Author: Pete Haas published: 2012-06-05 09:04:53 God of War: Ascension, like God of War 3, will be available as a part of a special Collector's Edition. Though Sony doesn't have pictures yet, they've revealed its price and contents. The centerpiece of the Collector's Edition is a Kratos statue. It stands 8" tall and should make your desk look a lot angrier. The game itself comes in a special steel book case. The rest of the extras are digital: the game's soundtrack, a PS3 dynamic theme, and PSN avatars. You'll also get double XP for multiplayer, presumably for a limited time. Sony's also throwing in a free pass for all of the game's future DLC. The price of this bundle is a mere $79.99. That seems pretty modest, considering the statue and DLC voucher. The voucher by itself might make the CE worthwhile, depending on how much DLC Sony releases for the game. Ascension director Todd Papy said on the PlayStation.Blog that they're planning to deliver a "dedicated post-launch multiplayer experience" to make the DLC pass and double XP valuable extras. When it comes to Collector's Editions, I'm conditioned to expect something crazier. I would not have raised an eyebrow if Sony had announced a $150 Collector's Edition with a Minotaur-shaped case that you need to rip open with replica Blades of Exile. However, Sony's appproach here seems smarter. It's easier to convince gamers to just pay an extra $20. Ascension will be available on March 12th exclusively on the PS3. For a closer look at the game, check out the new E3 footage. _________________________ That's a lot of value for $20. I already pre-ordered it from Amazon. |
Re: God of War: Ascencion
Wow, thread dead X 7 months!
Anyway, those with Playstation Plus might want to fire up that Multiplayer Beta at least once. Anyone who tries the Beta will be given this "Gift from the Gods" http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8516/8...2163e93e_z.jpg Sony sent me a little costume or something for trying the LBP Karting Beta. It came as an attachment to a message right after the game came out. I assume this will be the same sort of thing. Here's a little behind the scenes clip of the multiplayer: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/rzx__Yyok5c" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> As an aside, I seriously hate it so much when people say "very unique"; this douchebag actually says "very, very unique".. Unique means one-of-a-kind -- you can't get more unique than "unique". |
Re: God of War: Ascencion
Tried it because I love the series. Didn't care for this one bit.

Re: God of War: Ascencion
I'm a bit apprehensive that we haven't seen hardly anything of the single player campaign...

They have a demo on the Total Recall Blu disc. Played it, but it was extremely short, and as much as I love the first three (the third by far being the best), this seemed more like an afterthought to me. I'll pick it up at some point, but this isn't a day 1 purchase for me.

Re: God of War: Ascencion
Is it actually on the disc, so I can rent the Blu and try it out, or is it a download code like the one in Green Latern?

Amazon has a $10 credit now

Re: God of War: Ascencion
Damn, and I just watched that commercial. That red PS3 bundle looks pretty bad ass and would look great next to my Gears 3 360 console.

Re: God of War: Ascencion
Played the demo (surprised no one's chimed in about it yet), and it was nice and impressive and all, but, I don't know, there was something... off about it. Couldn't put my finger on it, but the fighting just felt more hollow than before. Nice set-pieces though.

Re: God of War: Ascencion
I play through the demo last night. Wasn't impressed, but I'm not a big GOW fan. I seem to remember the GOW3 demo was much better.

Here's the Collector's Edition reveal. Seems like a lot of bonus content for $20. I'm getting one. <iframe width="853" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qSSKn9bl_7s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

They rated a 7, although this is off the pre-release version. |
Re: God of War: Ascencion
I'll definitely pick this up......around the $20.00 mark.

Re: God of War: Ascencion
Yeah, that review doesn't make this seem like a day 1 purchase.
And I gotta admit, that "Bros before Hos" bit does seem particularly gratuitous. |

Here's a 9/10 Destructiod review that sounds pretty promising.

Ahh, kind of reminds me when they settled on Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time instead of being called Ratchet and Clank: Clockblockers...
and the change of trophy name is just stupid... anyway I'll be playing GEARS:JUDGMENT and BIOSHOCK INFINITE. |
