The Banner Saga is a role-playing game merged with turn-based strategy, wrapped into an adventure mini-series about vikings.

We are about 2 hours away and we have hit the final goal that Stoic set for itself: 700k. It is at 714k right now.

I went back and forth on what $50 reward I wanted, the poster or to design a personal in-game crest. I ended up with a crest.

Maybe we all should design a DVDTalk crest?

I just finished up my replay of 1 & 2 so I can play 3 for the first time. I'm baffled at how under the radar this series is. It has some of the best characters and story in all of gaming and in a world where lots of games are about choice I haven't played a series with tougher choices than this one.

I'm playing on PS4. I bought the trilogy because it was cheaper on sale than the cost of 3 alone even though I already owned 1 & 2.

I noticed that the Switch version was on sale for $20 this week at Best Buy. That seems to be a whole lot of game for a small price.

Just finished up 3 and such a great finish to the trilogy. I really can't recommend these games enough. Each one is around 10 hours and all your characters/items/decisions are imported into each game so you need to play all 3. There was a decision I made in the first game that didn't seem to be of any big consequence that ended up being of major consequence in the final couple hours of the third game.

Somehow I missed this, I had it downloaded (maybe as a GWG) but never played it. I just started Chapter 3 in the first one. I saw part 3 is on Gamepass now so I thought I'd play the trilogy. Glad to hear that'll have an impact on the later games. I love SRPGs. So far it's pretty cool. A few little quirks in controls but nothing insurmountable, and I'm definitely surprised by what I'm sure will be the impacts from some decisions I'm making, and by various deaths. This sounds weird but I'm glad they're short-ish so I can play through them all before being burned out.

(Side plug, no affiliation other than as a fan - if you like turn based tactics RPGs, check out Fell Seal. It's as close to being Final Fantasy Tactics without having the initials FFT as it could be.)

It was bugging me so I had to go back and check. The second game was a GWG game back in July 2016 (which is odd because who would play the second game without playing the first game in a story driven game?). But at least with Gamepass they are all on there now.

The Banner Saga Trilogy is on sale for $19.99 on the Playstation store this week. After searching for this thread and reading it. It sounds like I need to pick it up.

If you're a fan of tactical game like Fire Emblem, the BS trilogy is WELL worth the purchase price.

I've never played Fire Emblem. The only tactical strategy game I have played is Advance Wars and I really liked it. I'm going to give this a shot.

I have no previous love of tactical strategy games and this is one of my favorite series I've ever played. The strategy stuff is secondary to the story telling and characters.
