biggest disappointment this year...I am 8-9 hours in and I am seriously thinking about quitting...
the reviews were lower than I was expecting, but I think the big nature of the game actually resulted in the game getting higher scores than it deserved...

Finally I am Conner!
I loved the Braddock Expedition but they could have done so much more, some really up and coming people were on the Expedition and not a peep from any of them. George Washington, Daniel Boone, Daniel Morgan were all there.

Just started level 3... still feeling it like a job.
Hoping things get better based on what I'm reading here.
The game is not exactly buggy, but there are lot of things that don't feel OK. This is not my AC.

Anyone else talk to Franklin in Seq 2 and listen to his reasons for dating older women compared to younger ones? Holy shit that was funny, and long!

And I'm fairly sure that a lot of it (maybe all?) was taken directly from something that Ben Franklin actually wrote.

I have to agree. I want to love this game but Boston is the boringest city they've ever done in the series and NY is pretty much the same. The frontier and hunting aspect is okay but Red Dead Redemption did it far better.
I do like the naval battles and the ways they've changed up the gameplay but overall the story seems to be going nowhere and the cities just kinda suck.

I really thought the change of scenery would draw me into this game but I too am finding it not as enjoyable as the previous games. The battles at sea are pretty cool but other than that I'm more interested in the collectibles that the story. I might enjoy the crafting once I get more recipes and resources.

21 hours in
I also am frustrated with the game...at times it is as brilliant as any game out there...when the game is not forcing you down a path and allows you to play how you want, it is fun as hell. I find the actual missions to suck. Sequence 8 will go down as the worst hour of gaming I have played this year...
spoiler for sequence 8
when I am just doing side missions, and clearing forts, and taking over Boston/New York I am having a blast...
Also the main character has no personality...the side characters all seem to be in on some sort of joke...
But all the treasure missions were fun...
Naval combat is a joy...
Clearing forts is fun...
Oh not really a spoiler but a general observation on all the Assassins Creed games...if I kill one more target and have to hear how "I was wrong..I was only trying to do this...blah blah blah"
Still a lot of fun...like going on a date with a really hot model with a bad voice and no brain...

I'm into Sequence 9 and I'm still enjoying the game quite a bit.
Does anyone know the purpose of all the stuff you get at your homestead? Do all the resources do anything for you other than convoys to make money? Based on the DNA section in the menu, I only have 2-3 homestead missions left to clear.

I haven't played but an hour the first night. I'm really disheartened hearing all these complaints, but I remember calling it back when the Revolutionary setting was revealed.
So... yay for me?

I've been trying to find the same info. I have my homestead almost fully upgraded but I have no idea what to do with all the items/recipes other than convoys.

I'd like to know more about convoys. It seems that the chances of them getting attacked is WAY higher that the risk percentage they give you. The first one got attacked and I ignored it. When my second one was attacked I never got a notice until it was too late. I guess I should just stay in the frontier when I send out a convoy so I have better odds of protecting them.

Just started sequence 5. I can't believe how bored I am with this game. I'm tempted to just drop it to play Halo tomorrow but I know if I quit I won't ever pick it up again and I've played through every AC game. Right now I think AC I is even better. Nothing is explained, they tweaked the fighting for the worse, and i feel as though I've spent a lot of the game just running from mission marker to mission marker.
