I still like the series based off of the storylines but the control scheme I think is what makes it stick out for me. I didn't start playing the series until the GameCube remake and was kind of disappointed but I still enjoyed the hell out of it.

I loved RE4. Never played RE5 because I didn't have someone to play it with, but it sounds like I didn't miss much anyway. Looking forward to this one.

I remember reading that Capcom was going to overhaul the series after the disappointment with that last 'action' game. (RE5) This looks like more of the same, an action-shooting game using Chris and Leon again.

And the current rumor is that it won't have 2 player co-op, but that it will have 6 player co-op ...

I remember about overhauls and reboots too, but RE5 had pretty solid reviews (mid 80's on metacritic and gamerankings) and according to Wikipedia is the best selling RE yet so it seems like its far from a disappointment.

Yea, it sold well primarily because people liked the fourth one and ran out and bought the fifth like I did on day one. It was a tremendous disappointment.

It doesn't surprise me that some people would like it since most games today are shooters anyway.

Yeah, I bought RE5 based on the awesomeness that was RE4. Unfortunatley, what I got with RE5 was an action game...and a mediocre one at that. That being said as a fan of the series I'm really looking forward to part 6. Especially if those rumors about the third character being Hunk are true (has great memories of speed running RE5 to unlock Hunk and Tofu).

Even then, it wouldnt have sold THAT well if word of mouth on it was that bad.

I guess i'm just weird, I didn't see that much of a difference versus RE4, which I never thought was that spectacular either when I played it on PS2.

I don't believe it will be Hunk. Look at how the trailer is kinda split into three different parts.

1.) First part shows a more horror themed RE with Leon
2.) Second part is Chris with the action theme in a Chinese city.
3.) Third part is this new character that has the special blood. Looks like it's more connected to Chris's story and location IMO.

Don't forget people that Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is also coming out this year. That's the one with 4 player co op.
