Who said it was "little work" to remaster it? They have said that they have been working on it ever since the PS3 version went gold.

Wait, a full $60 for one single remastered game? Fuck you, Sony!
Seriously. We got 3 remastered Ratchet games for $40. They've already made their money on the game and now they're charging full price for something that took little work to "remaster". No wonder they didn't make the new consoles backwards compatible. Greedy pricks. - Upgraded to 1080p and targeting 60 FPS - Improved lighting and textures - Includes 2 DLC map packs and Left Behind DLC ($30) - In-game developer commentary It's basically a Game of the Year edition with a significant visual and frame rate upgrade. How mad were you about GOTY editions of previous games selling at full retail price? (Oblivion, Skyrim, Arkham, Borderlands, Fallout 3, Uncharted 2, etc.) How about Tomb Raider? There's also the option to wait till it comes down to a price you're happier with, or you can pick up the PS3 version for $40. |
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
I think any remaster or rerelease should be $40 tops, but even moreso then the case with Tomb Raider (that was out on all platforms), I think this is where they want to charge full price since there would be less people rebuying the game who had it on PS3 (in my opinion this game has less replayability anyway) and most buyers would be playing it for the first time coming over from XBox or held off.

Even if they didn't, why do those magically excuse this? I got the GOTY version of Dishonored for $30, new. Whatever though, I already played LoU, and don't think I want to play through it again, especially at full price. |

Seriously? The engine was in place, the story is there, the voice work, audio is there, the levels/location are all there. They're charging for a brand new game when all they've done is boost the graphics a bit. Even with the DLC, $60 is a fucking rip off for a re-release of a game that's already made a ton of money. If you don't think so, you've drank their fucking kool-aid.
Your argument that it shouldn't be $60 simply because they have already made a ton of money is hilarious. What the heck. So if a product has made a ton of money already, they *owe* it to you to sell it cheaper? That's nonsense. If people are willing to pay the price, then more power to them. If they're not willing, then the price will drop quickly. That's how supply and demand works. Many people have not played the game since many people never owned a PS3. That's the real market... not someone like you that already has it on PS3. |
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
It shouldn't be $60 because it's a remaster, the graphics, game structure, voice acting, CG, dialog, story, etc; are all completed - so it's easily understandable that some people feel it's a rip-off in a double dip sense. Certainly plenty of work goes into it, but they're basically just porting the engine (which may or may not have been developed for PC first then ported) and "We started work on it as soon as the PS3 release went gold." tells you nothing about team size. But they also charge full price for Blu-rays too, and people with the DVDs just wait until they're cheaper.
...which in this case, will probably be 3 weeks before it's on sale at $39.99, though I wouldn't count on a permanent price cut for some time. The people who never played it can be the ones to purchase it at full retail. |
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
pretty much all game of the year editions that include DLC cost $60 when they come out ON THE SAME CONSOLE. They usually drop to $40 in a couple months. This is on a new console with enhancements, seems fair. I won't buy it, like I wouldn't re-buy any game I already owned, but the price is fair and consistent with recent trends.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
I'll pay up to probably $40 for it
Not a cent more though |
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
I'll consider grabbing it for the 48 plus tax with GCU.

It comes with the season pass and a developer commentary, which is usually all it takes to repackage a great game and sell it to people again at full retail. But it goes beyond that and upgrades the game from a technical standpoint as well. But, as noted above...supply and demand. I expect it to sell quite well. |
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
I hope they knock $20 off for people that own the PS3 version. I see it as similar to DVD-BLU-RAY. I have no problem double dipping on a title I love. I can't wait to play it on my 100 inch projector :)

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
Just curious as to when the game came out on the PS3, what was the price of the game, DLC and other content combined what the PS4 version will have? Like I said I didn't play it having move from the 360 but just wanted an idea of just how much content it will have compared to when it came out on the PS3.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
2 multiplayer map/level packs, and 1 single-player DLC story.

It also adds an in-game commentary according to the Amazon listing. And, of course, significantly upgraded graphics, resolution and frame rate. And FWIW, the multiplayer is excellent: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/lYWkk2RDpfU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Greedy bastards! |

Got this from amazon. Huh?
Hello, We have received new release date information related to your pre-ordered video game in the order you placed on April 18, 2014 (Order# 109-4038972-4174665). The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date: "The Last of Us Remastered - PlayStation 4" Estimated arrival date: December 31, 2014 |
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
Ignore it. It's Amazon indicating that they don't have a definitive release (although I thought we had one in June?). December 31st is just a placeholder. This is something like the third release date email update I've gotten from them about The Last of Us.

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
I don't think there was ever confirmation of the June date, just some retailers listing it.
|
re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
Love me some Kool-Aid and look forward to playing it again with the visual bump and DLC. Good shit!

re: The Last of Us (PS3 and PS4)
Will you be able to use PS3 saves on the PS4? Game saves get uploaded don't they?

Technically that should be possible, I think. |
