Xenoblade CONFIRMED for North America

Nintendo of America finally did it! After earlier rumors and teasing, it has finally been announced that the looooong awaited roleplaying game, Xenoblade, will be coming to North American Wiis in April 2012. It'll go by its European name, Xenoblade Chronicles.

No word yet on whether it'll be exclusive to GameStop, as rumored before. [Edit: It has BEEN CONFIRMED! GameStop will sell the game as a $49.99 MSRP, exclusively.]

So there you have it. After all the campaigning and shouting, Nintendo finally did it. Now it's up to us to ensure it sells more than twenty-five copies. I would say that's when the real struggle begins!

Pre-ordered earlier. Very excited this is finally coming out! Heard it's one of the best RPGs for the wii. Anyone else excited?

They have also just confirmed that The Last Story is coming to the US as well!

Looking forward to these two titles...time to dust off the Wii.

Xenoblade Chronicles is a complete time suck!! Starts of quickly and pushes the story along quite nicely. TONS of side quests .

The majority of the game looks fantastic, for the Wii...

It's too bad they totally botched the release of this in the US. Even with the pretty bleak release schedule, I think this will be a dud sales wise in the states. With their vehement NO on the US release, people turned to importing or other methods to secure the game.

How long did it take you to finish? Do you also have The Last Story? How is that game?

I am about 50 hours in, about halfway though the main quest. But, I am trying to find and complete every sidequest

An english version of Last Story is supposed to come out this week (today, i believe).

Amazon says June 19 for Last Story.

Strangely enough, I thought Xenoblade Chronicles was coming April 6th and I can't find it on Amazon.

EDIT: Nevermind, saw the Gamestop exclusivity.....that is a surefire way to sabotage sales. Guess Nintendo can then come back and say "see, it didn't sell well, next time we'll make the big boy decisions".

So I just saw on Nintendo's website that Xenoblade Chronicles is compatible with the Classic Controller Pro.
I haven't been keeping up on my Wii news....can you use the regular weird shaped classic controller instead? Or for those who have played it, do the wiimote and nunchuk work fine?

I tried both and prefer the classic controller by far. The main advantage comes in battles where you are constantly switching between the myriad of attacks and executing assists.

The earlier version is kind of an embarrassment from an ergonomics standoint...its really just an oval.

Thanks, guess maybe I will look into the Pro version or wait and see what the back of the box shows as compatible.

Didn't pre-order but will walk into Gamestop on Friday to buy it. And will be trading in my never used Wii Balance Board to boot.

I usually never trade in games due to the raw deal but if I HAVE to buy the game at Gamestop (yes, I know I can get it direct from Nintendo), I my as well offload...

Early reports are that the hardcover preorder bonus is being screwed up at Gamestop (books being given out early, not being shipped to stoers, etc.). ugh. I hope they have mine when I go to pick it up today, otherwise it's off to the Gamestop thread...

Got mine at lunch. The guy still had the art book in the back. When he opened the box it looked like they had a good amount of copies. Gonna pop it in after I dust off my Wii :lol:

Only played for a half an hour so far but I am enjoying it. The only town I have been to so far is really nice...the artwork is top notch.

I forgot how uncomfortable the original classic controller is...I may have to upgrade to the pro if this is really a 60+ hour game.

I didn't like the classic controller and decided to get the pro. Feels much better and only costs $20.

What i have a problem with is remembering the button layout. I'm so used to ps3 and 360 controllers i keep hitting the wrong buttons.
