I was watching the new NBC game show Who's Still Standing? tonight and they had a question on there that made me think about this thread and the discussion about women and their knowledge of video games.

The question was "Black Ops and Modern Warfare are a part of what video game series?"

The format of the game is that they give you the number of letters in each word, and even a letter or two as a hint, so the clue looked like this:

_ _ _ L - _ _ - _ _ _ _

Two women were asked the question, and neither could come up with Call Of Duty.

I know that's a small sample size, but if Call Of Duty has name recognition issues with women, The Elder Scrolls (or even just Skyrim) doesn't stand a chance.

My wife just doesn't care. I'll tell her sometimes, but it's not interesting to her so I doubt she retains it.

i know some folks get alot more than that for xmas, but that is a nice haul for me.

Sounds like a nice haul to me. I have no idea what I'm getting for christmas because my wife likes to get me things that I wouldn't normally think of. She figures I can get just about any game at any time that I want. So, last christmas, she got me a Phillies Jersey with my name on the back. Things like that. With that said, I have no idea what to expect.

But...I think she might have gotten Skyrim for me this year, mainly cause I won't stop talking about it. (and I almost never buy games at retail cost) I already bought myself Dark Souls and some other games (Splatterhouse, Saint's Row 3, Deus Ex) during Black Friday sales but all of those were at $35 or lower. So, it would be a safe bet for her to get that.

However, I could be completely wrong. ;)

One reason I am getting 4 is they have been good deals.

Skyrim -- $50
Dark Souls -- $33
Rise of Nightmares -- $30
Rage -- $20

Although she may curse the day when I become obsessed with Dark Souls and Skyrim. She will also be concerned when I start teaching my child all of the cuss words that exist from playing Dark Souls. Good times are on the way

It hasn't been an issue with my fiancee mostly because the times we are around each other, I don't have a hankering to play video games. That said, I do keep the Wii at her place for days she needs to do laundry/errands and I have nothing to do. She'll play Mario Kart with me. I couldn't get her into LBP.

With exes, it's been a mixed bag. I guess like most people, you are going to like some games, but not others. One would watch me play Katamari and join in on Champions of Norrath. Another would play Wii Fit and play LBP, but not care about anything else.

I'm at the stage in my life where I don't need her to like everything I do, and video games is a dwindling % of my free time.

If you're currently in a relationship, how does your significant other feel about your interest in video games? Indifferent (thank goodness)

Do they game with you or do they have zero interest in it? zero interest other than Kinect Sports

Do you only play when they aren't home/you aren't hanging out together? both

Did gaming have any effect on your dating life in the past? Has it changed in the present? no effect
