I'm somewhat afraid to count but a rough estimate of what's at my house puts us in that same range. If I were to add the ones my grandson has at home it'd be close to 300 if not a bit over. I take solace in that the figures are really well made and that my grandson frequently plays with them outside the game making battles/armies on the floor. :)

Hi all, there's a used copy of Swap Force for the WiiU at the local bookstore for $10. Can we get this and pickup a portal and figures later? Will older portals work with the newer game?

Toys R Us is having a one day sale(2/07) on Swap Force and Giants starter packs for $19.99 each. You have to be a Rewards R Us member to get it at that price, which is free and easy to sign up for.

They also have their Swap Force and Giants figures on sale. I would have went and checked out what they had but the closest one to me is 40 minutes away and I don't feel like going out just for that. I was tempted to buy a couple of Amiibo's that are on sale 2/$20, but I couldn't find another reason for me to venture out again today.

Except from the first game (Spyro's Adventure), to the second game (Giants), older portals will not work with a newer game. However newer portals will work with an older game. So if you wanted to pick up a Trap Team bundle, you could use that portal with the game, but you wouldn't get any figures that work with the game in the Trap Team Bundle. If you want to start with Swap Force, you may as well spend $18 more ($27.97 on Amazon now) and get the portal and 3 figures

EDIT: Or do the TRU deal as above, which was posted while I was gathering info :lol:

I currently have mine in spreadsheets - 1 for each game and 1 for duplicate figures. I'm looking at making a database instead to make it easier to track more information and be able to generate reports. The problem is that creating a database is "work" and I'd rather be playing. :D

Yeah, my thread title was Skylanders, Anyone? because it had been out for a few weeks and I wanted to know if anyone else was into it. Then supermallet went on a kick of changing thread titles and changed it to this after a weekend when Game Stop ran out of limited figures. I should really ask the mod to change it back, but I never got around to it.

So, the small fry was totally into this for most of Sunday, and I even got to play some of the 2-player co-op (which I wasn't aware of but I'm glad to see).

How little can we put into this and still have a good experience? I see used figs in various shops around here all the time so I'm hoping to save money there. Is there any software for keeping track of your collection?

There's also the Skylanders Vault app for iPad. We like that one. You just enter the code that comes with each figure so don't lose those.

It depends on which game. Which one did you purchase?

I did a write up a few days back on Swap Force and Trap Team. While I didn't indicate $$ amounts (which can vary widely) I did lay out what's needed to see/unlock all areas in the game.

If you got Spyro's Adventures (the first) or Giants (the second) let me know and I'll do a similar write up on those as well.

Heck... I'll make it easy:

Giants
To unlock all elemental gates you need a Giant for each element (8 total). They made only *one* Giant for each element *BUT* did some "alt deco" and variants. The regular figures are *not* needed to unlock anything as a Giant of the correct element can do it all. If you want the checks for speedy completion of a level you *might* need a regular figure but a couple of the Giants are fairly quick and might be able to get that done.

Spyro's Adventures
All you need is one character from each element. The only requirement is they must have been originally introduced during this game *or* be reposed figures originally introduced with this game. For example: a Tidal Wave Gill Grunt from Trap Team will work with this one as the figure was originally introduced in Spyro's Adventures. There were 24 reposes of series 1 characters released with Giants.

There were 4 Adventure Packs (levels) released for Spyro's Adventures that also work to unlock the exact same level in Giants. 3 are easily available and 1 is very difficult to find. You don't know they exist until they are placed on the portal so there are no "missing" levels staring you in the face.

Target is supposed to have a B2G1 sale on Skylander's figures next week. I ordered 2 figures from Best Buy yesterday but I may hold off on purchasing any more until I can see the ad.

^Ooooo.... That makes picking up Nitro Head Rush *very* attractive - 1 for me, 1 for my grandson, and hopefully another Trap Master he doesn't have. Target did *not* have Nitro Head Rush out yet.

I picked up the few new regular characters I was missing from BB this morning and re-purchased Love Potion Pop Fizz to take advantage of the sale. I returned the pair I'd picked up at Target a couple of weeks back and purchased a couple of Water Traps we don't have (they are slim pickin's with Traps). BB had nothing new in the way of traps and the regular characters were in short supply. I got the last one of 3 of the characters I purchased this morning. They seemed to have *lots* of Trap Masters but I really didn't look too closely as I already have them all.

I picked up KaBoom and Tuff Luck for my son yesterday. He's still missing some of the Trap Masters, but he's okay with that. Having SO MANY figures strangely seems to kill the interest in collecting them all. After we got the Kaos trap (thanks, Shea!) and the other 8 traps, he was kind content with just playing with what he had.

I ordered Wallop and Love Potion Pop Fizz for in-store pick up. But with Target having a B2G1 sale next week, that may work out slightly better price wise for me since I am basicly starting from scratch. One thing I did notice with the Best Buy sale is if you put one of the 9.99 figures in your cart and then one of the 14.99 Trap Masters it actually takes half off the 14.99 figure and not the 9.99 figure.

Also of note, the Blackout figure is part of the BOGO 50% off deal. I see that that one is a pre-order. Any idea when that one will come out and is it an exclusive as I did a search for it on Target and Amazon and could not find anything on it? I am tempted to order it but would have to include it when I place an order for the Game of Thrones exclusive since free shipping starts at $35.

Blackout is supposedly part of Wave 4 which is being said to be sometime in March. BUT I've read nothing firm about either - just conjecture.

Yesterday Blackout was *not* part of the BOGO 50% (I double checked at the time) but had free shipping. Today it *is* part of the BOGO 50% but you have to pay for shipping. The final cost is ~$1 higher today. Bummer. I'll wait.

Wow, their system is really messed up in the consumer's favor. I have GCU and Elite status for free shipping and added Blackout first, then Wildfire Trap Master second. Came to $12.49 total - fifty cents more than the TrAp master alone with the GCU discount. The trap master dropped to $4.50 in the cart.

So does the Love Potion Pop Fizz do anything different from the regular one? I was thinking of getting it for my kid but he already has the original one. Is it just a different color and that's it?

I got Swap Force for the PS3.

I've skimmed your write up and it looks pretty informative. I'll have to get that app for the iPad so I can keep track of what I need when I go shopping.

check out your local Best Buy. I found a second section of Skylanders and Disney Infinity characters not with the normal video games. Was able to grab a Kaos trap there.

I wish the traps were on sale.
