Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
It's best to buy a couple of other things when going to Customer Service with a pm + Cartwheel offer. Some will allow both without question, but most will not.

i may wait another year to get trap team. it is probably the most expensive of the franchise with all the traps and trapmasters you need to get. I don't need 100% everything, but i do want enough to make the game enjoyable. Hopefully the toys will be alot cheaper on ebay by then. I may go with Spyro's Adventures at Christmas.

I realize this is an older post, but you don't need all the traps; just a couple of each type, if you don't mind switching them out, since each can hold (I think) three captured enemies. Also one of each element of trap master, and really, none of the non-trapmaster Skylanders, since you might as well just use the Trapmasters all the time.
thanks for the input!! |

And that's spot on advice with the Trap Master figures. They are all that's needed to play the game. One of the best Trap Masters is Wallop. Wildfire is also quite useful and powerful. The "normal" figures are pretty superfluous although a few *do* have nice abilities and look cool. Spotlight is especially useful and cool - although very hard to find. |

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
If someone is getting a WiU and wants to take all their Skylanders which is almost the entire catalog including the last two sets to play on this, what do they need...a Starter Pack with the Portal or can you get the Portal alone?....they have a Xbox 360 now.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
So essentially the "Trap Team" portal for the WiU....he has everything for the 360, the first one, Swap Force and even the last one. I just need to know is there one only he needs or does he need 2-3 different portals. If I were to guess he has about 50 characters.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
**EDITED TO UPDATE PORTAL COMPATIBILITY INFORMATION**
He needs the "Trap Team" portal for the WiiU (or the Wii) *and* the software disc(s) (or download if available) for whichever game(s) he's wanting to play. The "Trap Team" portal will work with *any* of the games, even Superchargers. Here's the portal compatibility: Spyro's Adventure portal works with Spyro's Adventures and Giants. Giants portal works with Giants and Spyro's Adventures. Swap Force portal works with Swap Force, Giants, and Spyro's Adventures. Trap Team portal works with Trap Team, Swap Force, Giants, Spyro's Adventures, and Superchargers. Superchargers portal works with Superchargers, <s>Trap Team</s>, Swap Force, Giants, and Spyro's Adventures. The Superchargers portal does not have the speaker but it unfortunately can't be used with Trap Team which is why I'd say get the Trap Team portal for the best compatibility. <s>But it *does* work with Trap Team as it takes the Trap Team Crystals and I'd expect it to have the speaker.</s> The Trap Team portal will work with Superchargers but might be a bit crowded with a vehicle and a couple of figures. All the figures are platform independent. They keep all the level ups, gold, etc. no matter what platform or game they are played with. Superchargers characters to *not* work with any game other than Superchargers. The "reposes" of earlier characters are *not* backward compatibile this time out. |

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
Gamestop is having a Skylanders Day event this Saturday.
Starter packs are 50% off and when you purchase a Superchargers starter pack you get a starter pack of any of the previous Skylanders games for free. Excludes Dark Editions. Speaking of which, Superchargers Dark Edition will be $59.99. Supercharger characters and vehicles will be B1G1 free. Sea Racing pack will be 50% off. There's also a couple of deals listed in the flyer. http://www.gamestop.com/gs/pages/eve...d=eml_10002295 Spoiler:

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
Hmm... I finally bit on Black Friday, though it's an Xmas present. Maybe I'll take my daughter on Saturday to pick some up. I'm sure she'll want the pink cat, any other suggestions (I'm not going to go all in this time, and the starter pack I bought was for the Wii U, so I don't even have the 'normal' starters)?
|
Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
Same here. I decided I am just going to pick up enough vehicles(1 sea & 1 air?) to beat the game and a couple of figures. I am probably going to get the pink cat for my daughter also. I also bought the Wii U version, so I am just going to go for whatever unless someone can make some suggestions.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
The vehicles match up with certain skylanders, right? So the pink cat (Splat) has a vehicle?

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
^It should.
I ordered the Wii starter during a LD on Amazon, found a ~40 minute video of someone playing through the first 4 "courses" of the game on youtube, watched it, and am now debating cancelling the order (my grandson wants the Amiibo figures for his DS). For the Wii it's nothing more than a Mario Kart clone. Yes, I already knew that but the video hammered it home. I don't particularly like racing games and found that to be the weakest part of Superchargers on the XBox. Amazon already has the Sea Racing pack at 50% off. I ordered one for my grandson earlier today. That makes me wonder if they're PMing Gamestop... |

I finally got around to playing Rollerbrawl in Swap Force. She is a freaking blast. Extremely fun to use

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
The "regular" (i.e. not Dark) Superchargers starter packs are on sale today at Amazon - $33.99 each - any platform. The DS version is $23.99.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
1/2 off select Supercharger figures at Toys R Us this week. I picked up a couple yesterday from Gamestop for $5 each after the Kongregate app coupons.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
Looks like Skylanders is finally hitting its breaking point. They had all the old starter sets on clearance at two gamestops I went to for $10. I then was a Target that had a whole clearance section that was just Skylanders (probably at least a hundred or so).

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
Last Saturday (the 5th), Gamestop had the Supercharger starters at ~$40 with a *free* starter from any prior Skylanders game on any platform with the purchase of a Supercharger starter. They also had the Eon's Elite figures at a more reasonable $9.99 each. I still didn't purchase any of those as they had a half dozen of each one on display and the new price stickers didn't look like a special sale sticker but a long term price reduction one. I figure they'll go even lower.
One of the WM stores here has *zero* Skylanders on the floor. No starters, no figures. That includes Superchargers. They *do* have Lego and Infinity (2.0 & 3.0) starters and figures available. Target and BB has the same amount of space as last year devoted to Skylanders. Even Amazon has had Superchargers marked down for most of the Christmas selling season. Other than one of the expansion packs I don't think I've seen a single Superchargers figure become unavailable. By this time in previous years it was almost impossible to purchase figures. So, yes, it's hitting its breaking point *or* Activision finally figured out how to keep it in stock. I figure the mini-debacle of the purposely crippled Wii version coupled with the rather lame vehicle portion in the full version game has also taken its toll on the franchise. I say mini-debacle on the Wii as they kept a pretty tight lip when it came to the Wii version being only racing and having none of the "adventure" segments. Activision pretty much alienated that entire demographic. That group does't care that the Wii is a aging system as it *still* has some good, family/kid friendly games with graphics that are quite acceptable to that age group/demographic. Having played Superchargers on a X-Box I can safely say the Wii could have handled any of the game play mechanics using the established graphics from previous installments of the franchise. Sure, the graphics are significantly improved but they truly don't help gameplay, they mainly just make the cutscenes and visual effects look a bit better. Even then I prefer some of the old Wii effects to the "improved" versions in Superchargers. |
Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
To be fair I think Toys to Life in general has hit it's breaking point. From every retail place I've spoken to Lego Dimensions has been a bust.
|
Re: Skylanders, Anyone?
Between Skylanders, Amiibo, Dimensions, Infinity, and the new Marvel one (Playvisions, or something like that), the market is oversaturated and overwhelming.
I'd really like to get Trap Team and Superchargers now, but I'm not falling into that mindset again. It gets way too expensive. |
