Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
My problem is the overall downgrading of taking the series to new time eras. GTA 4 sucked because of this. This is sadly following the same shitty route of revisiting past locales instead of having it take place somewhere else in a different decade like the 60s or 70s.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
The thing about period settings is that it gimps the media and technology available to them for the game. I'd rather have a modern setting with 60's cars available then have a full-blown 60's setting.

Maybe that's true of the Prohibition era, but I don't think the 60s are too far back. And, the soundtrack in a period setting is usually awesome. In a 60s game we could have Jefferson Airplane, the Stones, the Dead, The Who, The Byrds, Hendrix, to name just a few. Maybe we could even get a Beatles song or two if we can dream.

I would never want a GTA set in the past...call me crazy but it just wouldn't be the same. It's too easy to rip apart todays society with all the over the top BS.
Having said that...People love Vice City and while my first official completion of a GTA game was IV.....I'm a Liberty City guy and hope they return there one day.
This reminded me of GTA today....I really wish people who think it's all about mindless violence would see the charm this series has....I used to be one of them (well, the violence never bothered me but I was always under the impression it was just stupid thug shit) until I finally sat down and palyed for a while:

There's a rumor going around as to why which consoles this will be on have not yet been announced. Supposedly, this will be on Wii U too and they're waiting to make the official announcement.

I don't know if it's just the crybaby fan-boy inside me or what but I am pissed that they haven't started the full blown marketing for this game yet...they know it's going to sell a zillion copies so they're not worried but I would think they would at least do 1 new screenshot a week or so.
Fans are also getting pissed cause Rockstar keeps saying "In a few weeks we'll have more on GTA V" then they never deliver.

It would be cool to see Nintendo finally get GTA (on a home system anyway), but I wouldn't get it for Wii U because it looks like their controllers lack the analog triggers that I'm used to for driving.

Why does anyone need an announcement anyway? Aside from the possibility of a WII U version (who cares), it's not like it is a mystery which systems it will be released on. Are people hoping for a Dreamcast version or something?

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I'm starting to think they have been hard at work at both GTA V and VI. I say this because of how close V will come out before a new console launch.
V is one of the most silent hyped games ever meaning even before the main marketing begins....there is a huge want for the game that is very vocal.
Maybe I'm completely wrong but I don't see why Rockstar would wait just to make sure they know where they stand with the Wii.

I think V has to drop within the next 6 months or so for Rockstar to start recouping investments. There is only so long that investors want money out there before they see a return.

Looks like the marketing machine kicks into gear the beginning of next month - there is a new free artwork for GTA V available on Rockstar's site as well (mentioned because their artwork kicks ass).

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
So apparently the Wii U version isn't on the current poster because it's a bigger deal than it being on the PS3 or 360. The Wii U version will be getting its own, separate announcement at some point. That's what's being said now, anyway.
