Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

I would really dig a return to Vice City personally, if they go in a more light-hearted direction. They should do London again or some gritty international city of they want to go in a more serious direction. Tokyo could be cool since Japanese culture would be easy pickens for parody and humor. Thought it will likely take place in the US again since we are the game's biggest audience.

I'm willing to bet this 11/2 trailer will be a teaser with no gameplay or any indication as to the location of the new game.

This

The reason why San Andreas worked so much better than IV was the variety of missions. Some pretty original and memorable missions made San Andreas stand out from the rest.

For V it would be cool if they let you play as a Crooked cop like a Vic Mackey character.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

I didn't like San Andreas and IV was alright but I didn't love it and never even bothered to finish it yet. I'm excited to see the trailer for this but the series has sort of run it's course to me. I still may be interested in buying it depending on location/era the game is set in. I liked Vice City a lot and think a direct sequel to it would be cool. Something set overseas would be cool as well.

That's makes me feel a little better. I finally just finished the game and the DLC just a couple of months ago. I loved it but I have a habit of buying games and moving on before I finish them.

Oh dude, totally know this feeling. Was about halfway through Resistance 3 and HAD to dive into Arkham City. Now Battlefield 3 is coming out this week. I gotta hold off starting that one though until Batman is done.

Day one purchase, no matter what. I've been with the GTA series since the first top-down one.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

I'm kinda excited, always liked the series. To me Vice City was awesome and the peak of the run so far. IV was decent, but definitely needed some mission checkpoints like someone mentioned earlier. The bank robbery mission was way too long to not have some kind of save in there. Lots of other sandbox "crime" games have implemented it well so no reason they can't.
That and the sometimes wonky gunfire aiming are my only complaints. Oh, and maybe a few more 80s songs on the classic radio station.

Trailer a week or so before the launch of Saints Row the Third. That's a dick move.

If these are 3 of the 5 characters, I'm sold:

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

It seemed likely they would take it back to Vice City and then San Andreas for VI, but LA is cool. Now will it be called Los Santos again? Will the other cities from San Andreas be in the game?

I would if they just amend the LA Noire Los Angeles.

Yeah but you can't beat the satisfaction of finally successfully completing those long-ass missions without checkpoints

Bad ass way to announce the new game. Very surprising.

I'd really like it to be a sequel to Vice City. That is my favorite one.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

I loved San Andreas. I Know some people said there was too much to do, to many roads to drive/cities to go to.

But I loved that.. San Andreas was that ultimate sandbox

That was my complaint with San Andreas. Too long of a drive to get from city to city. Otherwise great game. Vice City is still my favorite though.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

I remember getting to the flying missions in San Andreas and quitting there. The plane was too difficult to fly or I was just lazy and didn't want to put in the work...or something. I can't remember why I quit it now but it was once you got the plane. GTA IV was the only one I have ever finished and I have owned all of them.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

This should be in a modern-day version of one of the towns in Red Dead Redemption. Grand Theft Auto: Blackwater.

Then again, I was one of those who thought J. Marston should have cameoed in L.A. Noire.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

Not that excited. I think Saints Row has done everything I would want. I'd rather play as a customizable character because my favorite games let me do that. GTA are always weak in the story department so they better make the side missions fun as hell.

Also, it kinda sucks that with this game you can't trust reviewers. Every reviewer acted like GTAIV was the greatest thing ever made and they were very, very wrong.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

Wouldn't it be cool if they re-mastered Vice City and San Andreas in HD and released them for PS3/360? I'd buy them. That would probably be a ridiculously big undertaking, but I feel like they'd at least break even.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5

I spent more time in San Andreas just driving around and causing mayhem while listening to hokey country music than I did completing missions whereas in IV I just played straight through to completion and almost never screwed around. I find that I prefer the first approach which is probably why Saints Row is so appealing now.

As opposed to spending millions of dollars on an entire gaming series/franchise that blatantly rips off GTA without so much as a single original twist or innovation?
