I don't give a rats ass about the multiplayer.
No SF or Vegas sucks, But if they focus on parts of LA and the suburbs that weren't covered before, it'll be worth it.

Think of it as the San Andreas map without those two cities. It'll have Los Santos and all of those outskirts areas like the mountains and forests and desert areas.
Like stated above, Las Venturas was pretty half assed and San Fierro was pretty small as well. The only city that had real depth to it in SA was Los Santos.
I'm hoping they added Orange County to the map. It'd be cool to drive around a game with streets that I know pretty well. Hell, I hope there's a theme park to play around in.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
I personally think they should at least bring back Las Venturas....yeah it was weak in the original GTA SA but I mean WTF, they're making a map so damn big that the artwork they usually include in the jewel case is going to be a map on both sides......so....plenty of room to make it work right this time.
San Fierro was a bit bland but I still dug "Hashbury"

Make sure you check out the campaign ads - they're hilarious....nobody mocks pop-culture (yes, sorry to those of you who love your politicians but politics are pop-culture) like Rockstar.

Make sure you click on the Life Invader button at the bottom.
The political ads are great, but Life Invader is pretty damn good too.

Agree completely. A few rather barren casinos, but none of the energy of the strip. I know it was set in the early 90s and Vegas was a bit different then, but still a letdown when you consider the possibilities a GTA version of Vegas could have been.

Wow, it's like a built in MMO.
GTAV comes out for PS3 and Xbox 360, and with it comes Grand Theft Auto Online, an online mode that lets you customize a character—hey, you can play as a woman! (like you could in GTAIV's online mode)—and wander around Los Santos with up to 15 other people. Today's video shows players doing all sorts of missions, buying apartments, and even creating their own scenarios to screw around in.
Grand Theft Auto Online won't be available at launch—it'll open up on October 1.
GameSpot's got more details in a big preview they published today, and the multiplayer mode seems ambitious as hell. Some details:
There's a stock market, which won't be available at launch but will be insane whenever Rockstar does put it in. You can invest in a car manufacturer and then storm around the city destroying every one of their cars so they have to pump out more (and their stock increases accordingly). Wow.
There's also a fascinating new take on spectator mode, GameSpot reports: you could be in your apartment and see a police car down below your window somewhere, turn on the TV, and watch one of your friends run-n-gun with cops in real time.
"It'll be GTA Online; it's not part of GTA 5," Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies told CVG. "Obviously it's set in the GTA 5 engine, but it's going to grow and evolve into its own thing."
When the multiplayer mode launches, it'll be accessible through your character select wheel: in addition to the main three characters, Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, you'll have a fourth option for multiplayer.
GTA Online will initially cover the same terrain as the pseudo-California-based GTA V. But Rockstar is hinting that we'll be breaking those borders at some point. From the company's official description: "Grand Theft Auto Online … begins by sharing gameplay features, geography and mechanics with Grand Theft Auto V, but will continue to expand and evolve after its launch.."
AI characters "will react to the urgency in your voice," CVG says. Whoa. And... "Suddenly, a Rockstar developer sat next to us starts chatting into his headset and his on-screen character does the same, lip-synching broadly in time."
While GTA Online seems like it's mostly made for multiplayer, there'll be ways to solo at least some of it. According to Rockstar: "In Grand Theft Auto Online, players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to complete missions…"
According to GameSpot's preview, Rockstar won't be offering GTA Online's mission-creator tools at launch. They'll be rolled out some time after Oct. 1

Okay now it's acceptable to start saying "Why isn't this on next gen consoles?!" because that's an AWFULLY ambitious online mode to have running on a dwindling install base.

Bad timing is the reason and I guess R* didn't want to spread themselves too thin with the development. That being said I might actually buy Xbox live for the online feature. Im blown away by the video!

Well the install base won't dwindle THAT quickly, although with no backwards compatibility it certainly makes this harder for people buying a XB1 or PS4 right away. This is definitely going to make question what to do with my console pre-orders
I imagine this should have been out a year ago, but delays just happened to result in bad timing. I imagine development has been in progress long, long before any of the next gen stuff was getting going.

Yeah, i'd rather get it on PC since it would make it easier for me. Alas, 360 it is.
I wonder if the fact that it comes with GTAV but is kind of it's own thing according to Rockstar makes the Online portion portable to next gen as a standalone... that would be pretty neat.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V
It looks like they took what was really great about Red Dead Redemption online, and said "how can we make this more awesome?"
Red Dead was so much fun online because the world felt active and vibrant, even if you were playing solo. GTA IV always felt like a ghost town online. This is going to be amazing.
As for why this is coming out on current gen: launch titles rarely sell millions of copies. Current gen might dwindle a bit, but it'll be a while before there's a true market for next gen.
That being said, the next gen versions will be out when the PC version comes out.
