You don't say, EA. You don't say. (As I've said before, I really liked DS3. But this is the impression that many people had about the game before it was released, and I don't see how it's not responsible.) (And I do hope they make a 4.) |

It is microtransaction-laden, which I don't like. However, I don't find it any more a FPS than the previous installments. You walk, stomp stuff, things jump out at you--same as before. It's not like it now resembles Call of Duty.
(And I do hope they make a 4.) Again, though, I was talking about the perception of the game pre-release and how that affected sales, not what it actually is. |

Re: Dead Space 3
Yeah did you shoot anything alive in the first two games? I mean non alien?
Soldiers in a Dead Space game made as much sense as soldiers in a Resident Evil game. |
Re: Dead Space 3
At the very end of DS2, you kill that military guy that was trying to prevent you from reaching the marker.
Honestly I don't see why people have such a problem with soldiers being in this game. It fits with the story progression and they're really only on a handful of levels. In the parts where it's soldiers AND necromorphs, you can just sit back out of the way and the necros will take out all the soldiers for you. |
Re: Dead Space 3
Not always. Sometimes they gang up on you.

Re: Dead Space 3
They're trying to prevent him from shutting off the machine/marker or whatever. This unitologist faction has been part of the story in EVERY game, and they've always been trying to kill Isaac. Like I said, it fits with the story progression. You're not just shooting random people.

Mass murderer? They always shoot first, so shooting back at guys firing away at you does not, in my humble opinion, make a video game character a mass murderer. For anyone it does, well, might want to try a different game.

Dead Space 3: Awakened DLC Brings the Terror Next Week
More Dead Space 3 will be coming next week with the Awakened DLC, which promises "some of the most disturbing content ever seen in a Dead Space game," according to Visceral Games boss Steve Papoutsis. Expanding upon the Dead Space 3 story, the DLC sees Isaac and Carver taking on another, more fanatical Unitology cult who appear to have spliced themselves with Necromorph parts. It all looks incredibly dark and twisted, and therefore potentially vintage Dead Space (fingers crossed). Watch the trailer and peruse the screenshots for the upcoming Awakened DLC below. It'll be heading to Dead Space 3 on March 12th for 800 Microsoft Points. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nq4ETw4Tf-A?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Spoiler:

Re: Dead Space 3
Got the DLC and played through it twice today during my spare time. The first time took a little over an hour because I was exploring a bit. The second run through took less than 30 minutes. The story was ridiculous. It's the first piece of DLC I've bought at full price for any game in a long time, and now I remember why I have that policy.
In short, don't waste your money until it's at least 50% off. |
Re: Dead Space 3
This game soured me so much by the time it ended that I have zero interest in the DLC, half price or otherwise. Give me a dark and gritty reboot on next gen hardware and I'll come back.

Re: Dead Space 3
I forgot to mention that the DLC does have one great moment, maybe the best of the entire game:

Re: Dead Space 3
what is the best strategy for upgrading/creating weapons?
should i upgrade before creating new weapons? or are you better off not creating new weapons and just upgrade your current weapons? |
Re: Dead Space 3
also, if u upgrade your suit. do the upgrades carry over to the next suit you get?
|
Re: Dead Space 3
Different suits are just cosmetic in this game, the upgrades do carry over.

Re: Dead Space 3
this game is fucking hard even on normal!
i finished dead space 1 & 2 on normal without much issue but I'm on chapter 11 and already have a difficult time. That damn giant spider popped up again. I was barely able to kill it the first time and finding it near impossible now to kill it. I think i will have to give up on the game. I don't want to restart from scratch playing on easy. |

Which is the biggest timewaster?

Re: Dead Space 3
I fucking hate the internet... and myself.
Got the game in the Origin bundle, so it was almost free. I just started Chapter 5, I know it's really early in the game, but I'm loving this game. This is classic Dead Space, why were people complaining about this game? Yes, you have the OPTION to buy stuff to make the game easier, but you don't have to. I know some of you here also loved the game, that's basically why I decided to try it. After this I guess I will continue AC3, I actually played the first 2-3 hours of the game and didn't like it, but some of you also liked the whole game. |
