Any way to salvage a bad 360 disc?
So I loaned my Borderlands to a friend awhile ago. Ive played it since and it worked. Tried to play again and it is unreadable. Cleaned it with a soft cloth, but then noticed a ring of scuffs on the outer edge. Almost all the way around.
Anything I can do to fix? |

I had a copy of Smackdown vs Raw 11 become unreadable - had a perfect ring scratched into it all the way around. What I did was rent a copy of it and then did a complete install onto my hard drive using the rental copy. The game now runs fine off the hard drive with the damaged disc sitting in the disc drive.

If they're cool, the folks at your local Game Stop might try to buff it out for you.
Also the game with all the DLC is only $9.99 at Best Buy if you can find it there. |

That's why i never let anyone borrow my games. It seems like no one knows how to handle a fucking disc!

Are you sure it's the friend's console that did the damage and not your own starting to chew them? You say it worked fine after you got it back, and the way it's worded it sounds like you didn't notice the scuffs until after it'd been through yours.

i know his son handles the discs as well so i am sure that helped, plus, the machine he was using it on totally crapped out and he had to buy a new one. that might have been the straw that... no biggie really since it is so cheap now. i think i will ask GS about buffing it so at least i can salvage it and give it to him or something. that was a good idea Decker. |

My copy of Mortal Kombat has that perfect ring as well. I haven't had any other games get damaged like that. Good idea about the rental approach, I'll try that.
