ps3 headset question?

Okay, thinking about getting one of these and see they vary in price from less than $20 to about $50 for the official PS3 one, to even higher.

What is the best one to get for the best price? Are there good ones under $20?

Thanks,

Logitech Vantage Basic no frills gives the ability to communicate.

PX21 Gaming Headset Good bang for the buck. Great Sound. Long cord. I own these.

Tritton AX Pro I want these.

Any suggestions for cordless ones?

I have these and love them so far. They are wireless, have a rechargeable battery built in and connect simultaneously to PS3, 360 and an aux without having to switch any connections. The only downside is that they are only stereo, not surround.

You could just get a regular bluetooth headset if you don't care about having game audio through it.

Re: ps3 headset question?

I got this Plantronics headset for $46 back in 2006 and it's awesome (whoa, it's $170 now?!):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005A9AV

The cord is the perfect length to our couch and I never have to worry about the batteries going dead, so I'm all about the USB headsets.

What I would like to figure out, however, is to be able to hear both my squadmates and the game's sound in BFBC2 through the headset only. The PS3 is running through our Onkyo receiver and I have the headset plugged into the PS3 USB port. Some nights I have to turn down the game's main volume by quite a bit because we have a cranky upstairs neighbor who makes a lot of noise but pounds on his floor / our ceiling at any given time. It would be nice to have the game's sound and the squad voices come through the headphones together so I can hear things like whether I'm moving an objective flag.

Ideas on that one?

I have the logitech headset and I purchased a cheap usb extender from amazon. It works great.

I've never had good luck with blue tooth headsets for ps3. To much room noise bleeds into the mic. Corded headsets are a lot better.

In XMediaBar, navigate to Settings.

In Settings, navigate to Sound Settings.

In Sound Settings, find Audio Multi-Out.

Set Audio Multi-Out to "ON".

You might want to wait until September for this:

Thanks, Cruz; I'll give it a shot. My wife and upstairs neighbors will likely thank you.

Hmm, I tried that tonight and it was the same: squad voices coming through the USB headset plugged into the PS3, game sound coming through the receiver and speakers.

"There must be something missing."

Re: ps3 headset question?

to my knowledge you can't get game sounds from a USB headset on a ps3. You need one that splits the audio out from the red/white cables of the AV adapter, like Turtle Beach. What you have there is a PC gaming headset.

redbill is correct. I hadn't looked at what you had and those don't pull audio through the PS3s USB ports.
