Gran Turismo 5 - Good for a Beginner?
Hi!
Been playing Dirt 3 for a few weeks and really enjoyed it. Now I am considering getting Gran Turismo 5 as well.
Is this complicated? What I mean is do I have to do pit stops, change tires, oil, tune engines, etc... myself or is there a beginner setting where it's all done for you. So you can just race. I have read numerous reviews but not finding the info I need.
I really like the racing but have no clue whatsoever on tuning stuff, etc...
Thanks,
James

There's an Arcade mode that just lets you get in and race. In the main game, they ramp you up slowly. It's still not the most user-friendly racing game -- you might get more enjoyment out of Shift 2. Still you won't be totally stuck with a super-difficult, super-picky racer that's impossible for a novice to have any fun with (the way some F1 games are for example). There's something for everyone in GT5, even if it's primarily targeted at the gear-heads.

If you have a Xbox, I'd just wait for Forza 4 or pick up Forza 3 on the cheap. GT5's setup is so unintuitive. Racing wise it's pretty solid though. So if you don't have an Xbox, I'd go for GT5. I wouldn't worry too much about the "Sim" aspect of either game, as you can make them pretty arcade-y when you turn on the assists.
