I hope they put Dirt 3 on sale, probably the only thing I'm interested in picking up.

Yes. Though chances are the last day will be a "greatest hits" type collection of the most popular deals.

I got oblivion and borderlands. I have bought borderlands so many times 2k needs to give me stock options.

I'd like DoW II Retribution, but I think I can wait until it drops lower. 50% off isn't that spectacular.

As per the cag thread for anyone who is new to the summer sale. If there is a game you want wait for it to be a daily deal as they could go cheaper than they already are, if it still isn't a daily deal by the last day then buy it then. A lot of this sale will be discounted even further over the next 10 days.

Does it work like how Stores will price adjust? I'd be pissed if buying a game and in the same sale week the price drops again.

Doubt it, that's why they say to wait until the last day if you want something as it might go on sale. Buy it last day if it hasn't gone on sale yet. It's digital content so its not like it will sell out.

Re: Steam Summer Sale - June 30th - July 10th

It does not. The price you paid was the price you paid. Until it drops to free, you have no assurances that your purchase might not be cheaper later.

No, the sale is final; there are no adjustments.

To elaborate on what glassdragon said, the games in the publishers' catalogs (where every game is discounted 33% or whatever) are the ones you want to wait on until the last day.

For what it's worth, there are quite a few games out there that are quite cheap right now (and likely won't get any cheaper):

Garry's Mod ($2.49)
The Graveyard ($1.24)
Gridrunner Revolution ($2.49)
The Longest Journey ($2.49)
The Maw ($2.49)
Mr. Robot ($2.49)
The Path ($2.49)
Penny Arcade: Precipice of Darkness, Episodes 1 & 2 ($1.80)
Rush ($1.24)
Shadowgrounds ($2.49)
Space Giraffe ($2.49) [you can buy this w/ Gridrunner for $3.74 combined]
Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse ($2.49)
Time Gentlemen, Please!/Ben There, Dan That($1.24)
Toki Tori($1.24)

Lots of different genres (RPG, adventure, arcade/casual, action, puzzle); I haven't played all the games above, but the ones I have I enjoyed quite a bit, and almost all of them have gotten high marks from reviewers/gamers.

In addition, there is DLC for various games that are quite cheap at the moment--some of it goes for under a dollar (thanks to www.steamgamesales.com for the info).

Re: Steam Summer Sale - June 30th - July 10th

Today's deals are far less impressive than yesterday's. Steam likes to front-load these bi-annual sales.

29.99 -Total War Shogun 2
13.59 - Dungeons
8.74 - Train Simulator
4.99 - Hamilton's Great Adventure
37.19 - Call of Duty Black Ops
9.99 - Devil May Cry 4
2.49 - Braid
4.99 - Might and Magic Heroes V
7.49 - Grand Theft Auto Classics
4.99 - Just Cause 2
5.09 - Spacechem
Just Cause 2 for $5 is a total bargain if you don't already have it. One of my favorite games from last year. Oodles of hours of gameplay.

And I couldn't help myself, figured I had to buy something on day 1, so I got Oblivion GOTY in the final minute of the sale :) . I have it for 360, but I hear it's better on the PC and for less than $7, I figured it was worth checking out.

Re: Steam Summer Sale - June 30th - July 10th

Bought Just Cause 2. Downloading the demo for Shogun 2. It's the same price on Amazon (Digital download, Steam activation), and I have a ton of credit to spend.

Decker 07-01-11 12:56 PM

Re: Steam Summer Sale - June 30th - July 10th

If you can wait 6-12 months, you can be pretty certain that Shogun will be a fraction of today's price. All the other Total War games go on sale frequently for a pittance.

Enjoy JC2. Like I said, it's awesome. Don't even regret spending $35 at launch on it.
