No info as of yet, according to an e3feed.com search.

Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines (Gearbox, Sega) - Spring 2012

I saw this at E3 and sadly, I wasn't impressed. The played through part of the campaign in front of us and it was so generic. Nothing seemed innovative and the graphics left a lot to be desired. The Gearbox guy who was pitching it kept telling everybody how excited he was to be working on the game, but I wish I saw that enthusiasm on the screen. He also mentioned that this game is a true sequel to Aliens, but it takes place after Alien 3.

He spent at least three minutes giving examples how Aliens influenced so many games over the years and pointed out all the references to the film as the campaign unfolded. For example, the sentry gun from the director's cut is in there and the map that the characters used in the film was still on the table. As a huge fan of the first two films, I did not get the feeling that I was watching a game that felt like part of the film cannon. It was just a generic space marine FPS that happened to have xenomorphs in it. The Marines spouted off dudebro dialogue that tried to mimic the banter in the film, but it just didn't even come close. But then again, I can't fault them too much for that since a lot of that dialogue has become so iconic. The xenomorph's also seemed very easy to kill, like a single shotgun blast easy.

In the campaign demo, a new type of xenomorph was also introduced. It was pretty large and had a huge plate on it's head that allowed it to break through almost anything.

The co-op aspect of the campaign was also demoed. They showed how a friend could just pop in at any point in the game and start playing with you. That was pretty cool. Finally, it does appear that you will be able to use the mech suit from the film. The first player guy never got in one during the demo, but either the second player guy or the AI did and it looked like a lot of fun.

The Gearbox guy didn't mention anything about any characters from the film turning up, nor did we see any in the demo. There was a long ass wait for this as well, so people were really interested. It took over an hour just to get into the demo room. It was not a complete failure by any means, but it didn't strike me as an A-List game.

Finally, I really hope they prove me wrong. I want to play an Alien game that has the same atmosphere and feeling as the films so damn badly.

Who exactly did you expect to see from Aliens?

I would hope the Xenomorphs are as easy to kill in this game with marine weaponry as they were in Aliens. Swarm me with that shit! "Rhino" xenomorphs don't make sense unless there's some indigenous LV-426 life we didn't know about...

I never said I expected to see anybody, I was just letting people know if they were curious.

A weird, mutated Burke better be the game's end boss.

Even if you think the WiiU sucks balls...tell me it would not be cool as hell to have that stupid controller act as a motion sensor....

That was my first thought when I saw the controller. But only if it has a speaker and the sounds emanate from it.

Sorry, I figured that if the publisher didn't want the videos shared through the bloogers' video widgets, they'd disable them at the source, not at the access. Found youtube.

Didn't even know this was happening. In theory...I should be excited. I need more gameply. What I saw there was neither great nor bad. Just...what I'd expect from an Alien game playing as Marines.

The video looks good. But I've learned not to get my hopes up for Alien games.

If it wasn't for BioShock Infinite this would be my most-anticipated title of 2012. It's the Aliens game I've been wanting to play for years.

I'm hoping its good. The graphics in that picture don't excite me, but look at the Marines faces... The don't seem to concerned that they are in a gunfight in tight quarters with really big acid bleeding aliens.

I'll say I do like the look and atmosphere. It does have that Aliens Movie look and actually comes close to that excellent Aliens pc game several years back where the dark rainy surroundings just gave you the creeps. I really hope Gearbox can pull this off. Like someone said...we just haven't had much luck with Alien games which is a crying shame.

It's too bad that first alien in the video didn't do the crab walk.

I can say for a fact if you're walking down one of those dark hallways with nothing but red and yellowing revolving lights, with some rain coming down, slow footsteps and that motion sensor beeping...and the first Alien that jumps out, you're going to have a nice surprise in your drawers.
