Ok loving the game. I noticed how much your choices really change this game.
Spoiler:
Towards the beginning when I am given the key to escape I do so and the castle catches fire and there is an explosion. As I was looking for something online I noticed a gameplay video which has him escaping only to find the Mother of the bastards and getting to the ship with no explosions. Pretty cool.

Also I had totally forgot about the save feature in the menus after trying for an hour and a half to go far in a level die and have to restart from the beginning.

most rpg games for me I always max out save files...it is almost comical how many save files I get in games like Skyrim or Fallout...

I need someone's help. I went to the cave behind the waterfall and defeated everyone and got the Ostmurk. It says I need to use it or make something but I'm not clear on what I have to do.

So I think this is going to be my next game I start instead of getting GTA5.

Fox, any pointers when starting?

Upgrade Quen (shield) and roll distance. Dont try to go toe to toe, youll get crushed. Couple of hits in till Quen is down, roll away and recast.

Haven't posted in this thread, but I started and completed this game a couple of months ago. 2 playthroughs, once on Normal difficulty and once on Dark.

Tips for a beginner:
- Don't be intimidated by the poorly-designed, overly-complicated menu system. It's not as difficult to figure out as it seems at first.
- The map, however, is as bad as it seems at first and doesn't get better. Use your own sense of direction to figure out areas (they're not as big as they first appear).
- Make sure you're using the right weapon for the right encounters. Regular for human, silver for any type of monster.
- Everyone recommends Quen, and it is helpful on the hardest difficulty, but I concentrated more on Igni (fire magic) and used it far more often. You can use it to attack while keeping your distance.
- When distributing your skill points to level up, don't bother with the bottom (Alchemy) tree.
- Make a hard save before the big decision at the end of Act I so you can reload later and play the alternate path as well. The rest of the game plays out very differently with new locations, quests, and characters depending on your choice.

Re: witcher 2

So I am on my second playthrough of this game and decided to give the Roche path a shot. At first it seemed interesting to me.
Spoiler:
For instance, I liked that Roche went after Loredo and how we found Moril.
However, after that, other than the tournaments
Spoiler:
and bedding Ves
it's been a snooze fest. The whole conspiracy plot is really failing to grasp my interest and even the sidequests seem dull. I'm thinking of going back to the branching path and choosing Iorveth again. There are some sidequests I bungled in my first playthrough and I simply find that path far more engaging.

Anyone else try the Roche path. Does it get better?
