Halo

I've tried out the first three games and they just don't click with me.

I'm surprised by all the Halo hate. I think the games are perfectly fine console-based FPS with fun multiplayer components. I think the Halo mythology isn't very interesting and that Master Chief is a zero-personality protagonist. I also think that ODST was boring, lazy and unnecessary -- If that's where all these complaints are coming from, I could understand it. But the games themselves are about as good as any other traditional FPS games played on a console with a game pad -- better than most, actually. What's the beef?

The problem with Halo is that it's simply mediocre. If I want to play an FPS, there are a wide variety of better choices.

Exactly what I did. Haven't touched Gears 2, not even interested in Gears 3.

Halo was like that for awhile but I played ODST and Reach and they weren't bad.

Others include God of War, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Tomb Raider, Super Smash Bros, Gran Turismo, Silent Hill, and Battlefield Bad Company.

I don't like any FPS, so I'm not going to list them, but I also haven't ever been able to get into any of the Metal Gear Solid or Resident Evil games. I've also stopped playing Gran Turismo after the 2nd game, it was too much of a chore to play and from I hear, the sequels since then are the same, I'd rather play Burnout.

I'm very different when it comes to Sonic. I've played a lot of the games (mostly the 2-D side-scrollers) and really enjoyed them. Don't know why, but I have.

Final Fantasy - Only one I really liked was Final Fantasy 9 mostly because of the world and setting which I really enjoyed)

God of War - Incredibly repetitive
Elder Scrolls - Incredibly boring
Grand Theft Auto (and most "sandbox" style games) - Incredibly realized but the repetitive missions and long amounts of travel time just get old, quick.
Sport Games - I'd rather just be playing the sport
Gran Turismo - I love cars, but good god does this game put me to sleep
Katamari Damacy - I wanted to like this for its "japanese quirk" factor, but it has to be about the least entertaining, most pointless puzzler I've ever played.
KillZone - Mediocre shooting series that somehow has a fan base
Resistance - Felt like a less exciting Gears of War, surprisingly generic

I really enjoyed co-op campaign in Gears and Halo so I have no complaints with either franchise

Grand Theft Auto - driving controls suck for a driving intensive game
Metal Gear Solid - give me more gameplay and less meaningless/confusing dialogue/cutscenes

Gears of War - I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one...I just get bored while playing
Any Final Fantasy after VIII - Maybe the games came out when I had the 80+ hours to kill, but I can't seem to get into ANY RPGs anymore
Megaman-I don't think I like platformers with shooting mechanics...I'll stick with old school Mario (fireballs are enough for me)
Grand Theft Auto - I think the designers were so focused on making a humongous sandbox game they forgot to focus on making it fun. (I think Elder Scrolls suffered a similar fate) When I play GTA4 I just hop in a car, try to earn a few stars and run from the cops. The missions just aren't that interesting to me.

Final Fantasy - own the original on NES and owned all releases for PS/PS2/GBA up through XI, sold them all, don't even know why I bought them
Zelda - I still own every major release of this series(excluding handheld and CD-I), but I simply cannot find them entertaining enough to play through. I keep them in hopes that I will someday experience why they are so highly regarded
Grand Theft Auto - I've been playing this series since the first game, I loved it from day 1. GTA III and Vice City were superb, then I just lost interest. I have San Andreas for Xbox, PS2 and PC, yet I've never played it. I have GTA IV on 360 and PC, yet I only completed the first mission. I don't know what happened to my interest in wandering aimlessly for hours on end killing hookers and cops
Gran Turismo - This is a system seller, are you serious? I don't understand why people are so enamored with a driving experience so pedestrian

Guitar Hero / Rockband, or similar music games.
I've played them plenty at parties, and am instantly bored by them - all they do is make me want to play a real guitar.
