Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

You know honestly, the Batman games never did much for me. They aren't bad, but I find myself losing interest in them really quickly. I'm cautiously optimistic about MGS V, but frankly as much as I enjoyed the first two entries, the third and fourth were convoluted messes and not a whole lot of fun. I'm kind of jaded on games now it seems But this Tomb Raider was fucking excellent. I may be interested in Mortal Kombat X depending on how well implemented single player is this time, the last title did a fantastic job with it. And Rime reminds me enough of Ico to have me intrigued. But those aside, Bloodborne and Tomb Raider 2 look to be the highlights, unless Tembo The Badass Elephant is just amazing. Hear Ori is pretty fantastic, will give that a shot too.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

If you like the Metroid structure, as we've discussed, I can't imagine not loving Asylum at least. It's literally a Metroid game with Batman. Tomb Raider also had some very very light Metroid elements.

Agree that Tomb Raider was excellent last gen, and I bought the PS4 version...just haven't gotten around to running through it yet.

The level design was fine in AA, I actually got bored of the combat and setting really quickly (which is weird as I love Batman:TAS). I'll give it another shot when the Duology comes out.

This game is fucking amazing! Love everything about it, no complaints at all from me; just fun all around, never a part of frustration . One of the best games I've ever played

Everytime Lara screamed and yelled for some reason it made me , something about Camilla Luddington's voice.

Was thinking about replaying it on THE ONE asap but I think I'll wait to replay it before RISE comes out. PLEASE MS DON'T DELAY IT!

Never thought I would be anticipating a TOMB RAIDER game!

I like the game a lot but it's major flaw to me how the gameplay doesn't match up to the narrative. In the story, Lara is surviving and struggling. Going through all these things that push her. In the gameplay, Lara is a fucking killer. All these weapons and such. Bitch is a mass murderer of baddies by the end. lol. It only matches up really if you just use a bow. Otherwise she's a beast.

Even with the bow she really doesn't match her cinematic counterpart. With the bow, she's John Rambo. With the rest of the arsenal at her disposal (with nigh infinite ammo to boot), she's John Matrix.

I think I killed less people, relying on my bow and arrow, while playing Crysis 3.

I just used the bow except for achievement purposes. She was a total badass and didn't mesh with the narrative, but still played out just fine.

That's my thoughts on the series as a whole. It's time to expand and bring in some other superheroes and villains.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

Well, I finally played this. I initially bought a 360 copy around BF 2013. Never played it. Got a copy of the XO Definitive Edition BF 2014. Didn't play it until this week. Glad I finally got around to it. Better late than never right?

It was alot of fun. My God does Lara take a beating in this game.
My only complaint is how short the campaign is. Couldn't believe I beat this in a few days. I spent around a month playing Far Cry 4.

Anyway, looking forward to the next game in this series.

I don't think the campaign is really that short. Maybe more a case of Time Flies When You're Having Fun.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

Yeah I found the game pretty lengthy. Maybe it seems short since there's not a lot of crap collectathon/ side missions covering the map?

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

The game is about 12 hours long which is just about perfect for a semi-linear (moving forward was pretty linear, but you could go back and explore, or explore as you progress a certain area) adventure game like this.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

The length of the game was fine for me, but that's largely because the story wasn't good enough to really carry much more. That said, it would have been nice for the game to be extended via having more (actual?) tombs to explore.

12 sounds about right, plus another 8 for a very missable achievement/trophy on the first playthrough.

My bad, I guess I didn't look hard enough through the search results. Supposedly there will be actual gameplay footage at E3.

Anybody else having a hard time finding this in store? I also noticed Best Buy took it off the site.

The original Ps4 version. I can't find it at multiple stores in my area either. Xbox One version is everywhere.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)

Actually DthRdrX, you might be on to something. It looks like Gamestop is sold out of new copies, but they do have used copies available (which is still more expensive than a new copy at Amazon ). Best Buy doesn't have it on their site either, only used copies which are sold out. Walmart has it listed for in store only, but no in store pickup. Target only has a listing for the XB1 version.

Maybe it's discontinued now? I would snatch up that Amazon copy before they run out. I'm glad I picked up the Artbook version when I did . I wonder if this has anything to do with the next installment not coming to PS4?
