I was too until I played with it for the last week. In the words of The Monkees now, I"m a believer. I highly recommend Kinect Sports. I can't speak from the Move sports game but KS definitely blows Wii Sports out of the water.

I might pick that up. I really want Whoomp There It Is but why the hell is all Dance Central DLC 240 points each? Seems way expensive.

I think it has to do with fully animating the dance routines taking more time/costing more money than charting in Rock Band. Could be wrong though.

That's correct. If there are new moves used, they need to mo-cap them, and that's a bit costly.

We opened ours up this morning. It was driving me nuts because everything was asking for us to use our Kinect ID to sign in. I couldn't find anywhere to set up a freaking Kinect ID and it made playing Kinectamils impossible unless you play as a guest.

I hit up Google and found out this is a known problem that required me to redownload the forced update by following these simple instructions:
What soccer mom would have any trouble figuring that one out? After I did it though, I was able to fully use my Kinect hub and sure enough it can now recognize family members' faces. Not nearly as difficult as Joystiq made me think the calibration would be (at least once the hub option was finally present)

Is there anything I should know/consider/ask before potentially buying a used Kinect? It's apparently in great shape and has only been used a couple of times.

My wife, daughter and I played Kinect Sports and Dance Central a ton the other night. Both are tons of fun and Dance Central is the one game my wife actually wants to play. For those on the fence, you won't regret either game.

Has anyone had any issues with Dance Central saying you're doing a move wrong when you swear you're doing it right? It's only one or two moves on one or two songs, it'll show one limb red when I've practiced it and I am fairly confident I'm doing it right. It's infuriating because it only shows your limb red and it doesn't say exactly what you're doing wrong, just that it's wrong. I know it shows your image in the small inset box but you can't really compare that to the dancer while you're trying to do the move.

Yes. I've noticed this too. I don't know if it's the fact that it's a first gen Kinect game or the camera is off... Or if I'm a shitty dancer.

I get it every once in a while where it seems to happen, but it hasn't really hurt my score or prevented me from getting a 5/5 so I never really cared.

Make sure you calibrate with that little "smiley face" card in the game case. Also make sure you aren't wearing any "extra loose" clothing, and make sure the room is lit up enough. i am not saying that this will fix it for sure, but you will at least know from a tech standpoint you have done everything you can do. I gave my wife Dance Central for Christmas, she is very good and i am very very very bad

My wife absolutely loves Dance Central. She'll play it for hours. Apparently it's okay for her to play video games because it's exercise.

Thanks! My wife got me a Kiinect for Christmas and she came home with Kinect Sports after hearing me talk about playing at a friend's house. Now we can return the one she bought as we are getting KS and Dance Central for less than $15 more than she paid just for KS!

I think that's the maddening part, I can't be 100% certain if I'm really doing something wrong, or the camera just isn't picking me up right.

For the calibration with the smiley card, I did do that when I set up the Kinect, is that something you have to do more than once?

I find the Blazer step and the windup to be the harder ones to ace. I had a problem with the jazz step but then I figured out that I wasn't moving my arms. Duh! Now I'm good with that. The blazer step though is irritating that i can't get it right.

I went almost 2 months (launch until yesterday) without running calibration, it isn't a complete requirement.
