Yea, it showed up after I posted that. So, today.

It is one big file, which equals a long, slow download. May not get to it until tomorrow........

Re: MLB 11: The Show

I hate the new analogue controls. It's also annoying that the demo defaults to them but the instructions only detail the old button based control scheme. It took me a while to figure out why I couldn't even pitch, or field, or bat... Just annoying.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

Yeah - not a big fan of the controls, plus a quick demo of the new controls would've been nice before putting me up on the mound right away. The first three batters all reached base safely on weak grounders because I was slow to figure out how to throw the ball, and when I did, I put it in the stands.

No reason to change my way of playing at this point. I'll obviously be saving the options accordingly.

I might pick this year's release up. I haven't bought it since '08, I believe. Baseball games are a lot of fun - problem is I hardly ever get playing them. I'd like to see another Bigs game as well.

Can't wait until the Blue Jays start their spring training games and eventually the regular season.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

I can't hit a lick on the demo. Only way not to bunt that I can figure out is down and then up........ I strike out all the time. Got the pitching down pretty well though.

So free 30 days is ONLY available through a preorder because the code comes via email? That stinks. I want to wait and see what the week of release sales will be. I suppose I could preorder from bestbuy and then get a price adjustment when/if its cheaper. Wonder how that works with the code since you get 45 days to return it if you're silver (30 if you're not) and you use the code and return the game? I want the game anyway, I just don't want to pay 60 for it.

The analog pitching isn't too bad but no way I use it for the hitting.

Still kind of miffed Mauer got the cover two years in a row. Not that I dislike him, but he didn't even have that great of a season in 2010. Sure they could have picked someone new.

I went ahead a pre-ordered it. The 30 days of MLB.tv pushed me over the edge.

I see the controller is $54.99... I want this but there's no way I can justify that price for a white controller with some pad printed baseball stitching on it.

Re: MLB 11: The Show

question: are we allowed to change the controls back to the button layout, or is the analog stick method the only way to play now?

I'm seriously thinking of buying a PS3, mainly for this game franchise.

You can use the old control method or the analog stick. The game just defaults to analog, I believe.

As a FYI, Kmart is having a deal next week where MLB 11: The Show is free if you buy a 160GB PS3 at the same time.

So I'm torn between pre-ordering this and getting the month of MLB.TV for free (a $19.99 value) or just buying this from KMart, getting the instant $15 in SYWR points for buying the game only, and then just buying the full season of MLB.TV instead.

I'm in the same boat. I was gung-ho for it, but $55 for a controller I don't need at all (I already have one surplus controller that is rarely used) is causing second thoughts. I was really hoping for some kind of package deal with the game and the controller, which of course may happen down the line, but I'm a "need the game the first day" kind of guy when it comes to this game.

Not sure what the experience of other members has been, but a LOT of people are bitching on CAG about not getting their points from Kmart in a timely manner --- or at all. It seems that ever since the system was revamped there is even more confusion (is that possible) with their offers. So I had cancelled my pre-order with Amazon to go the Kmart route but now I'm re-thinking that and probably going to pre-order thru Amazon again.

Daryl 02-28-11 01:47 PM

Re: MLB 11: The Show

I know - I am sometimes hesitant to recommend them because other people have had trouble with points/coupons, even though my Kmart is great and I haven't had any major problems. Until they become more trouble than it's worth, then I'll stick with them. I'm moving this summer, so I may start going with Amazon again if my local Kmart stinks or now that I won't have to pay tax for Amazon anymore

I guess I'm going to go ahead and pick this up. If anyone is down for another league this year let me know and we can roll with it. Only serious inquiries will be accepted. :)

I'm up for another league this year if you plan to use the old controls. Not interested in the analog controls.

I would jump all over that deal, but Kmart stores no longer exist in Houston.

I got my points instantly with my purchase of MvC3 two weeks ago. It shows on the receipt. I don't think you'll have problems. And I could be wrong, but I think that the free month of MLB.tv is good for everyone who buys the game, not just the preorder.

If that's the case I'll definitely pick this up at Kmart. I never had MLB.tv before and I was hoping to stream it to my Ipad -- is that possible or do I need another subscription to that device?

Why do you think that? Every site says the mlb.tv code is emailed to you after your preorder ships. At first I thought what you did, thinking the code was in the package, but if the code is emailed to you without you having to open the package at all, makes me wonder how it could come with any purchase.

I wasn't in last year but could be interested this year. How do you do it? Surely you don't play 162 games (or if you do, then I'm out anyway).

Hopefully there's a decent sale when it comes out, because it will be on sale eventually and I'm hoping to have the will power to wait it out.
