Assuming they're keeping the POTC4 tie-in, that will be two Lego games in less than two months. Not the best release scheduling.

What's the other one? The Clone Wars?

Yeah. It's been delayed to March.

The fact that there's a Highlander franchise is at odds with its motto. ;)

Sounds like fun. I'm not a huge fan of the LEGO games (for some reason, they don't charm me as much as others) but I think this property will lend itself well to the series. It should be a lot of fun.

<strike>Looks like they dropped the free Lego Jack Sparrow that used to be with the preorder. Bummer.</strike>
edit : No, it's still there actually. I might preorder it then. Of course I haven't gotten around to Lego SW 3 yet -- wish there were more time between those two releases, but I guess this one is timed to go along with the fourth movie.

Anyone try the demo yet?

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

I tried some of it last night. A LOT of cutscenes. Since the plot and story details of PotC are far less well known than Star Wars, I'm not sure how well these long, wordless sequences will play -- especially with the later films I've only watched once. Of course the gameplay (once you finally get to it) is cute familiar and fun. The sword-fighting is glorious. I played it late and didn't finish it. Will try another go tonight. Hopefully the cut scenes are skipable.

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

My son (6) is obsessed with all the lego games. He's also obsessed with pirates and loves the trilogy. When I showed him the teaser for this a couple months ago, he just stood there with his mouth open. Well, ever since then he's asked about it nearly every day and has been waiting for it to come out.

So I had the cruel idea of having my wife buy it for me for my birthday in a couple weeks to see his reaction when I open it up for MY birthday. Should be a lot of fun. And if he gets mad for tricking him, I'll just give him the lego mini-fig and all should be forgiven. :)

Yes, I love to trick my kids.

I played it a bit and I also thought the sword fighting was very well done.

Playing the demo is tempting but I think the "Clone Wars" demo was available for 2 or 3 weeks prior to the game's release and re-playing through the demo levels was still tiresome so I'm reluctant to do that 1 week prior to the full game.

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

I enjoyed the demo, but not enough to cave on this game (maybe when it's $10). Way too much time was spent in cut-scenes to tell the story. Maybe that was just because it was the beginning of that movie. If my kids were into PotC as much as HP, maybe.

Anybody thinking we'll finally see a Lego LotR announced this year (E3 may be too soon) with The Hobbit filming and scheduled to release Holiday 2012?

This game better have some nice Monkey Island references or it's a total waste.

I guess the figure is gone again?

Yeah. I missed it. It was gone by the next morning. Guess it's Kmart for me now.

Target has this for 49.99 and it comes with an additional lego set 11.99 and under. It shows the potc in the ad, but i'm assuming you could get any under 11.99.

Guru Askew 05-07-11 12:32 PM

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

I managed to lock in $47.99 at Amazon.com with the preorder pricing guarantee and then had a customer service rep apply my $10 credit from LSWIII to the preorder so I'll only be paying $37.99 for this. I'll probably use this game's $10 promo credit towards Lego Harry Potter which I never picked up.

Cusm 05-09-11 10:46 AM

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

So it seems the best deal today is Amazon for a $10 credit and the game at $49.99. Tomorrow is Target for $49.99 with a free PotC Lego set (only 1 priced $12 or less). Or is there a better deal I am missing?

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

Kmart will give a $15 gaming coupon with purchase. Since I was already locked into getting LA Noire there the next week anyway, this makes the game $35 at launch for me essentially.

Got my redemption code for the minifig, but I think the price is a bit off. It's listed for $25.99. My code only gives me $2.99 off. I think I'll wait a bit.

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

Just got Lego Harry Potter for $7.36 with my promo credit. Still no minifig credit though.

Re: Lego Pirates of the Caribbean - May 2011

Got the redemption code for the mini fig and the code itself was for $25.99. I tried using it, but it wouldn't recognize it and wanted to use my $10 promotional credit towards it instead.

I just tried to redeem it again a few minutes ago and it worked just fine. Free mini-Jack Sparrow!
