Word of mouth will be strong, it'll likely get a bump as a Deal of the Week once or twice eventually AND it's still got a PSN release coming.

I'm sure the game will be fine, sales wise.

With it being based heavily on Pac-Man CE, I can't imagine it cost too much to develop. I agree with Pixy - it'll probably have long legs.

So, TV Shows on DVD is reporting that the Pac-Man animated series is going to be released around March next year on Warner's DVD on Demand service.

Nice! Can't wait to see the Rip Van Winkle episode again where he goes up in the mountains, wakes up years later and goes back home looking for Mrs Pac, and there is a ghost living in his house

What is the red ghosts problem? I'll be on a great run, but that bastard is following some path that I just don't get yet. Asshole.

Can you view it online anywhere? The kids have taken over my gaming TV for the afternoon. (that score was only good for 20th best sadly, I'm guessing we'll see a 2 million score by tomorrow.)

I agree. There does seem to be one "right" way to go through this, with little variations, and now it's all about clocking in on getting the perfect run. CE was much more varied, but DX is still amazing. The ghosts in DX aren't as scary as they were in CE. The bullet time, mixed with them following you, has really changed that dynamic of running away from the ghosts.

ETA: 1.53+ in championship II.

Re: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Official Thread of THE KING OF GAMES

Oh man this game wasn't even on my radar. Gotta get it this weekend.

Sucks to hear there's very little variations in the way to attack mazes compared to CE. I'll have to test it out and see.

What made CE interesting was the top score getters in the CE mode all had different styles and ways to attack the ghosts. I peaked at 511,300 in that game (#4 score at the time but has since been surpassed by a few folks).

Loving it.

Also, just checking out my leaderboard score. Not sure where it was, but I saw Liver&Onions on there...several slots below my name, of course.

Name is Grendel1974 if anybody would like to add me, please.

Well, when I say there is not that much variation, I'm talking mainly about Championship 2. And there are different ways to go about the patterns, just not wildly different like CE.

I have no idea what the other modes have to offer though. I haven't touched them, and for some reason I don't see myself doing it. With CE, I just played (and loved) the main 5:00 mode. And with Geometry Wars 2, I fell in love with Pacifism, Waves, Sequence, and never touch the other modes.

Tunnel vision style.

Same here, as far as I'm concerned Pac-Man: CE only had one mode, and when I hear Geometry Wars I picture Pacifism.

OK, I might have spoke to soon on not playing the other modes. I gave some of them a try tonight, and they're pretty damn fun. I especially like Spiral.

Re: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Official Thread of THE KING OF GAMES

Ok just got the game and played a bit of Championship II mode. This game sorta loses the Pacman feel since you don't feel the danger of the ghosts. They seem to avoid the player like the plague. I think it's a more fun and less frustrating game than the original CE and seems geared more for the casual players.

Got #5 now on the Championship II overall for now (GT: mn1337). The scores definitely won't last. I expect the community to start finding more optimum ways to play these mazes over time. Wouldn't be surprised if someone were to surpass 4 million in the 10 minute mode.

Oh and does anyone have any tips on the Ghost Combo Mode? Not sure how those guys at the top of the leaderboard get over a 200 chain.

1.6mill. Ranked 171 or so in Championship 2. I feel like I can clock in and break 2 mill.

This is my thought exactly. Requiring you to activate the ghosts and thus getting the biggest score requires a specific path is kind of disappointing.

I do like it, but in a game that is all about score/leaderboards it needs to have a bigger pool of scoring variation possibilities.

Re: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Official Thread of THE KING OF GAMES

Could it also be an effect of being able to view replays? Maybe there are other path variations/strategies that haven't been discovered or perfected yet. Not that I'm at that level yet or anything...

Re: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Official Thread of THE KING OF GAMES

Well I touched on that above. I have my path I go and when I finally checked out a top replay it was basically the same path I was using already. There's really not much room for deviation.
