I am looking to snag a 1600 point card but they don't have them here in Canada. If I pick up a card or download a code from Amazon.com will it still work if activated from Canada or are they country spacific?

Canada has 1400-point cards

If your account is Canadian, US cards don't work.

Okay, just read that you can't do that. Boooourns. Guess I'll have to get 2000 and hope to use the other points down the line.

Okay, so I noticed I can purchase 2000 points off the consol or through my account. Will these work in Canada?

Also, I also saw that there is a "monthly" Xbox live offer. I might be getting a 1 year gold for Xmas but wouldn't mind playing around online until then. Will they charge my card monthly or reprompt me to join up again?

I would say that if you can buy it on your dashboard, it is a safe bet they will work. And, if you buy through the dash w/ a credit card, it will sign you up for auto-renewal. It is a bit of a pain to turn it off in the states.
