Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Even though I loved the first game, I am going to wait and see how badly they ruined the franchise with microtransactions and lootboxes.

Yep, Activision messed up big time with that star wars game and COD: WW2.

WW2 was so broken at it's release -but guess what did work? Micro transactions.

I heard battlefront was much, much worse and even led to a loss for Activision.

I like following the greed stuff when it comes to these big developers - it's interesting to see how they try to manage it after a games release. You would think they would be more careful in age where everyone has access to mother F them immediately - but not even that stops them in the slightest. It really is interesting.

I could be dead wrong as well but my personal thoughts are that RDR2 will be pretty broken for a while after its release. You have to remember that all of these delays are for hyping the game up only - that's it.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I never had major issues with recent Rockstar games, although i played GTAV on 360 before the current gen release came out. Of course, I only care about the single player anyway so whatever they do in multiplayer doesn't matter to me.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

My worry for this comes from all the bad stuff I hear about GTA Online. Take 2 is obsessed with the microtransaction model, and I wonder how that's going to hurt this game.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

They will have some sort of shark card system again - I think the entire format will stay the same - they obviously made a killing off of it with GTA online.

The only way I see this not being as successful is if the fan base for a western game isn't as high as it is for a GTA game - they will have to make compromises at that point for sure.

As long as they keep that shit on the multiplayer side, I don't care what they do with micro transactions. Just give me a good single player story like the last game.

Same here. Given two teasers/trailers already this delay has the micro transactions mess written all over it.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

It would be nice to see some expansions at some point, and I'm afraid they'll abandon the single player game soon after release and focus on multiplayer. The first game had some very good single player expansions. Given Rockstars record with GTA 5, I doubt we'll see anything like that.

Amen....the Loot Crate & Micro Stuff is becoming a real thorn in the side of Devs who have to walk a thin line of how they work in a game. Too much of it, tilts to Pay-to-Win or forced on you when you reach a certain point you need them to progress and stay competitive can turn players off. The game has a lot of potential in having them...outfits, guns, horses, furnishings...just hope it doesn't go the way of some games of late...

I really hope this has another Zombie DLC as that was my favorite part of Red Dead Redemption.

That's good news. I'm growing tired of waiting at this point but it does give me time to replay the first one.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar has always given me value for my money. If you just take their run of games from GTA4, Red Dead Redemption, and GTA5 they have always delivered on the single player experience and then some. Nothing they have ever done has made me think for a second that I am not going to get 50 hours or more of fun out of Red Dead 2.

Comparing the massive success they have had with GTA Online, I will admit that it is filled with ways to make money. Yet my friends and I spent hundreds hours playing the shit out of it and never spent a dime.

So unless they plan on doing something the company has not done yet, I just don't see how anyone who loved RDR 1 will be disappointed. They made billions on GTA 5...that formula will probably be repeated in Red Dead..which means incredible single player experience, and hundreds of hours of Coop/MP with micro transactions being in there for those that can't help themselves. Don't see why they would want to fuck up a formula that has made them billions.

(and this post in no way is saying the Micro-transactions are a good thing...in any form...just that my experience with GTA has been just fine without it, and that it never effected the single player experience at all)

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Haven't really been following the development of the game, so I'm not sure it was revealed earlier, but
Spoiler:
it was nice to see John Marston in the trailer.

IGN got a special 45 minute preview of the game at Rockstar North.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

That was awesome.....

....seems they are going to put some real world attributes in the game. I liked where they described hunting with a bow vs gun....he shot a deer with a bow, it fell down, then got up and sort hobbled while bleeding out and then fell over while making painful sounds. They described that sound as one not to forget.

...and your Horse is going to be real important and requires some good old fashion bonding which takes time. Horse dies...find another and start the bonding process all over.

.... the stills were nothing short than amazing....the details on the horses made then as real as I've seen in a game. And they said the demo was on a normal PS4 and mentioned the world looked as good as anything they've seen.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

Looking forward to this. I loved the first game but I hope that Rockstar builds an awesome single player game and not focused everything on MP.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2

I'll more than likely give this a chance after I finish FC5 and GOW. I was one of the few who was not a fan of the first game at all, felt very sparse and the story wasn't fully fleshed out. Hoping this one has a good story.
