Yeah, early in the game, when you first visit the stable, I paid $150 to get the "race" horse, and it made a huge difference.

Then he got hit by a train and died (and fucking stayed dead), so I had to re-load an old save and play a big chunk all over again, killing whatever time this faster horse may have saved me. This fucking game.

Well, yeah, you let it get it hit by a train - I mean, keeping your horse off the tracks isn't that hard lol.

I paid 950 for a horse - he just wants to run.

Ugh, I hope they're working on a patch. I ran into the issue of a legendary animal dying on its own (due to activity in the area), which allowed me to skin it but not get credit for killing it. I was being pursued by bounty hunters and saw the buck keel over when the notification came up.

I guess the simplest solution would be to make them respawn after a while.

It's possible it wasn't the legendary animal then. It says," you have entered a legendary animal area, due to activity in the area you are unable to track it".

I had to come back later when that happens.

Not sure I get all the complaints about mundane tasks slowing up gameplay. I'm on Chapter 4 and did not clean any guns or pick any flowers or hunt any animals at all. I've just done missions and side missions. I will say that the size of the game can almost be exhausting with how big the map is though.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

The fast horse I bought got killed again - this time in a firefight. I won the shootout, saw my horse got killed in the crossfire, I grabbed the saddle, but was too far to walk anywhere to do anything, got killed by wolves. Sometimes I hate this game. At least when I reappeared, there was a horse near me this time - but it was a shitty horse, and my saddle was the opposite direction - so I had to sludge all the way to get my saddle, then walk all the way with my saddle to the new (shitty, slow) horse. If they're gonna make a horse appear out of thin air, why not the horse I already had with my saddle on it?

It's just shit that makes me not want to explore this very explorable world they've built

Why don't you just revive your horse?

I went up to it to try that - saw no option to do so. Maybe it's something I have to unlock later, through some obscure and convoluted method, like fast traveling to your camp.

It's one of the tonics you can buy... not sure if at stable or general store.

So I'm blown away, I went back to the live show in Saint Denis for a 3rd time and all 3 acts were different again (this time by the same players) but this time out when the strong woman did her routine she stopped and said she could beat any man in the audience and for any man to step forward - so I stood up and walked to the stage just for laughs but then a prompt came on screen to get up on stage - You jump up and start fighting her - she will beat you no matter how good you are and you will wake up outside the theater - lol.

If your horse is dead he’s dead. No reviving. Mine died in a fight too, and I carried my saddle til I found a random passerby on a horse and stole it.

Just out of curiosity, for those of you whose horses died, did you have the war horse that came with the pre-order? That's the horse I had and he never once died and I road him right into gun fights all the time.

Oh, it definitely was. I was able to skin it for the legendary parts, it's crossed out on the map, and I got the trinket made for it. I just don't have credit for killing it, which is apparently required for a Master Hunter challenge.

It happened again, sorta. I shot the legendary moose, which proceeded to go into the water and die. This time I got credit for killing it, but I couldn't skin it. I just reloaded my last save.

I hope they just patch it so they can respawn. They'll have to do it anyway for multiplayer, right?

Same thing sorta with me. I killed the boar, skinned it and put it on my horse. It became flat and stuck out the side. I couldn't sell it or remove it. I tried crashing my horse to get it off and then it just became "pelt". Still couldn't sell it. The internet says that eventually the trapper gets it but it's been about two weeks and I play almost every day. I can't get the trinket or the clothing.

The horse thing bugs me too. I tamed the fast white horse out in the snow, after no small amount of looking and coaxing, etc., and now she's dead. Granted, it's partially my own fault. I was riding around and came across a criminal being transported in the back of a wagon. He was yelling for help, so, being a criminal myself, I decided to free him. Law enforcement unloaded on me, I took care of them, but within 10 seconds there were a dozen guys shooting at me who killed me and my new white horse. Ugh.

BTW, Chapter 5 I sure did not see coming. It was strange.

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 —> 10/26/18

I'm just on Chapter 2 since I started playing later then most of you, but looks like i'm close to finishing most/all of the available missions in that chapter (maybe?). The travel and movement still bothers me, especially positioning the right why just to pick up or search. I also had the same problem others have complained about as far as bumping in to a regular person and resulting in a big bounty on me. Buying a faster horse helped with travel, but only slightly, as it still sucks riding half way across the map to get somewhere. I unlocked fast travel at camp, but that only helps a little.

Still, despite all the annoyances i'm generally having fun with the game. I'll probably ignore most of the hunting and crafting stuff, as I don't really care about the real world stuff they try and have you do and just concentrate on missions. The world they built is amazingly detailed, but i'm just not the type of person that gets invested in admiring it, or partaking in little things like playing poker or dominoes. I can certainly see why others do enjoy that aspect of the game.

Another nice bit of detail:

If you maintain high honor for the entire game:

You'll always see a deer on your loading screens.

If you maintain Low honor for the entire game:

Spoiler:
you'll always see a wolf on your loading screens and a black wolf will always be at Arthur's grave when you go to visit - you can't shoot it or anything, it just stays there

Well it says played for a reason, I imagine "played" means anyone who launched/signed in to the game on launch day. Not sure how Rockstar would know who "bought" the game if they hadn't actually played it, outside of digital purchases.

Full blurb:

https://www.rockstargames.com/newswi...ad-Online-Beta

To help us ease into the beta and to mitigate major issues, we will begin the early access period starting Tuesday, November 27 at 8:30am EST, and gradually scale the player base up to full access beginning on Friday, November 30. This will help ensure that our servers can handle a steadily growing volume of concurrent players in the early hours and first days of the Beta and hopefully reduce the likelihood of any server crashes during the launch week as we get things up and running. Full rollout details are as follows:

Tuesday, November 27th: All Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition owners. Please note, players who purchased the physical Ultimate Edition must redeem the Ultimate Edition code in the packaging to be eligible.
Wednesday, November 28th: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 26th according to our data.
Thursday, November 29th: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 between October 26th to October 29th according to our data.
Friday, November 30th: All players who own Red Dead Redemption 2.

Yeah makes sense. I'll see if I can get on tomorrow but I'm guessing I won't be able to until the 30th regardless.

Where do you find the pre-order Warhorse? I didn't see it back in camp.

In a stable, once that's opened up for you. It's an Ardennes with a type listed as "war".
