I don’t understand the gripes. I’m like 5% and already killed a gang, hijacked train, more. Yes, they are mostly tutorial, but so it was in first. It’s just building your skills and arsenal, slowly, normally...like you know, real life. Go figure they try to be detailed and base it with real world mechanics. Nothing wrong with that. Nice break from parkour, make your own weapons, almost indestructible in some FPS games. It’s like a sim mixed with real world action scenarios...for bad/good guys that is.

Well, the mission "A quiet time" is probably the best thing I've ever done in a game ever...lol not sure how they're going to top that.

Something happened to the $150 horse i bought. I was playing for a while then i all of sudden noticed my horse went back to the one you start with. No idea when it happened. I have to reload an old save to get the one i bought back which kind of sucks.

I have strange feelings for this game.
It is brilliant. Some missions are as good as any form of media ever...and yet I am not having as much fun with the overall experience as many recent games, like Odyssey....
Just so much of what they are trying for actually hurts the overall experience, even if those "moments" help make the great moments better.
It reminds my of Das Boot. There are moments of nothing in that movie, where the camera just slowly pans around. As a viewer you start to feel this boredom just like the crew on the sub, and then you are pounded by insane action that gets your heart racing. The lows in that movie makes the highs even better.
The problem with a game is I am spending 50-100 hours with it. The low points start to add up, and honestly just makes me not like the game as much, even if those "highs" really are something special and are enhanced by dull moments.

I have to say theres not a single time other than the small font that I was disappointed in this game. Hunting is kind of difficult, but then again maybe I suck at it. And Id rather not get a wanted level for defending myself in a brawl. But yeah.

Started this yesterday. For an open world game, the "opening" was way too long, IMO. I expect to get quickly dumped into the world to explore; not go through a 2-3 hour intro/tutorial. Skinning a legendary animal is pretty graphic. lol
Does anyone know of a site that summarizes the first game for people starting out with 2?

That opening sequence was very reminiscent of Hateful Eight. The game has started slow, IMO. Don't know if it's good or bad yet but I'll give this game every opportunity to prove it's not a worthy successor.

Fair enough. But I will submit that he probably looks somewhat old and beat up because it's the wild west and I don't think it was an easy life
Hell, compared to how my own grandparents looked at my age, I'm basically a newborn.

the only thing i don't like about JM is that he was so beat up and playing with him in 1 he was like almost invincible. so, to see him like that seemed out of character. i guess he got hulkilian after he left and went on his own...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 > 10/26/18
I think I'm coming around on this one.
I was doing a mission where I had to collect debts from various people in the area. The first person was easy -- walk into a guys house, beat him up, and take his stuff.
The second guy ran. I chased after him on my horse for a while until I finally got close enough to him to get him off his horse with my lasso. Unfortunately, we stopped right next to a moving train, and as soon as I got off my horse, it shifted a bit to the side and was hit and killed by the train. Once I realized what happened, I was pissed. I've been playing this pretty straight so far, no unnecessary crimes and trying to make the 'good' choices, and if my horse hadn't died, then this dude I was chasing would've been let go. But now he had to die, too. I tried to drown him in the swamp nearby but the water was just too shallow. So I dropped him on the train tracks, but then I got impatient waiting for a train, so I went ahead and blew him up with dynamite.
There was a house a little ways off so I started making my way there to look for another horse. I got to the house but there was a guy sitting outside (potential witness to my horse thievery), so I kept on moving towards the animal sheds across the fields. Two were dark, but there was a light on in the third one. I searched the first two, found nothing, and went over to the third. Inside I found

I know, this game reaches new technical highs - to the point where you wonder what it took to pull off.
I remember riding up to Mary Litten's (think it's Litten?) house and forgetting I was playing a game due to the angle that caught my eye when I was walking up the stairs to her house - in short, even in just doing normal things the game can be brilliant.

One technical thing that is a wonder is how when you're having a conversation, and you get further from the other person, each person will raise their voice. The volume won't go up, but they're actually raising their voice just like you would when you wanna be heard better from a longer distance, and their voice comes down as you get closer. There's no way they recorded all that dialog multiple times having the actors raise their voices. No, they most likely developed something that does it believably on the fly.

I get the stagecoach/train thing, but man I sure wish there was some sort of fast travel system. Sometimes I just get so bored riding my horse SO far...

Upgrade Dutch's tent and then yours. Fast travel will unlock to towns you've already visited. It's a one way trip though
