Oh, I know two of those songs. The Red and Send the Pain Below were pretty big hits back in the mid-aughts, as I recall.

It's an okay song but I don't think I would buy it. Previewing their greatest hits, they sound kinda like Tool Lite.
Really surprised they aren't giving us a bigger name to go out with.

My expectations were tempered when one of the community guys said that none of the artists left were bigger than Aerosmith or the Valentine's Day pack. He left the impression that they were really just clearing out whatever was ready to go.

OK so I have never used the Live party feature.
Exactly how do you get friends invited or join a party in RB?
Asking because there is a FB meetup for RB on the 6th of April. If you have not seen it going around yet they are trying to get as many people online playing RB during that day. If you go to the Harmonix/RB Facebook page and go back a couple of weeks you should see the announcement for the meetup.
I am also going to try and get the Green Day and AC/DC packs before then to add to the mix. I have RB1,2,3, track pack 2, metal pack, Lego, and just over 200 DLC.

UncleGramps and I are 20 minutes away from seeing the final DLC track be played live. I'll record it but it's on the stream and we all already know what it is.

It's American Pie.
The very last weekly downloadable Rock Band song is to be, very fittingly, Don McLean's "American Pie." As Polygon reports, Harmonix revealed the news at its PAX East party last night. The song will be included in the final Rock Band update on April 2.

Oh well.. what can you do. It's been a great run of DLC each week.
Hopefully all the remaining DLC songs and packs go on sale. There are still a bunch I would like to pick up for rock band nights.

When licensing songs for release for any platform, including DLC, agreements include term limits on how long the content may be sold on a given platform. This isn’t specific to Rock Band – it’s something that exists in pretty much all licensing agreements. Now, over 5 years since the release of the first batch of Rock Band DLC, we’re reaching the end of some of the earliest licenses we secured. Our Music Team has been hard at work extending these licenses to make sure that this has as small an impact on the community as possible, but there may be a very limited number of songs that will no longer be offered for new purchases in the Rock Band store.
What does this mean for you, Jane and John Q Rock Band? Read on:
• If you’ve already bought these tracks, nothing changes. Tracks that you’ve purchased/downloaded are yours. Relicensing should not affect content already in your library.
• Select legacy tracks, primarily from the earliest DLC releases, may no longer be offered for new purchase in the Rock Band Store. Again, if you’ve already purchased these tracks you should be entirely unaffected.
• If for any reason you need to redownload this content (i.e. in cases of console transfer, hard drive space management, etc.) you should be able to do so even if that content is no longer available for new purchasers in the store.
As of right now, the only content affected is Metallica Pack 01, the tracks “Ride The Lightning”, “And Justice For All”, and “Blackened”, all of which were released on November 20th, 2007. This content has already been pulled from the RB Store and will be pulled from 1st party marketplaces in the immediate future. After that, they will no longer be available for purchase.
We’ll post as more information becomes available, with relicensing updates likely coming in on a quarterly basis. We’re hard at work to minimize the impact on the RB catalog and RB community, securing extensions for an overwhelming majority of content and, most importantly, making it a priority to give you advance notice if songs are expiring and have to come down. We’ll do our best to make sure that you have one last chance to buy these legacy catalog tracks!
Rock on,
Harmonix

"We wanted to give you a heads up that these songs are no longer available". ??? Is it really a heads up if it's too late?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
It was still available when they announced it. It was just pulled from their store, they can't control the speed for the "first party marketplaces". There may be a contractual reason why they couldn't announce it until they'd done all they can to remove access.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
It just seems odd. It would be in everyone's best interest to encourage people to buy tracks before the license expires. I think this is entirely unchecked hacky-sack playing-related.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I don't really care about those Metallica songs, but I hope they give us an adequate heads up if they can't secure the licenses of other songs.
What's the value on that? I need it for next year's taxes.
So, were there any juicy stories? I hadn't heard any follow up. (This thread is my primary source of RB news.)
Sounds like that PAX East panel next month is gonna be a doozy. They're finally gonna talk about all their abandoned projects over the years (like Rock Band Japan and the Pearl Jam project), as well as which artists and labels wanted nothing to do with them.
Should be a lot of fun. Hope it's streamed somewhere.
