Edgar Winter!

In for both Edgar Winter tracks.
I'm a sucker for "Free Ride"...used to not be at all, but I was really won over by this cover on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers soundtrack, of all things: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bHasPtcAPs It's kind of ridiculous and overdone but in a completely endearing sort of way.

I just looked back at the old RB3 guesses game and, to my shock and horror, NO ONE guessed Edgar Winter. I've always thought Frankenstein would be awesome, I just can't believe no one went out on a limb for the band. Granted that song has no vocals so it wouldn't have been on the disc, but Free Ride could have been there easily.

If you had a kid who used to play that original Cars game all the time you'd understand. Free Ride is on permanent loop and it gets old REAL fast. I never want to have a game with that song again.
Re : You Make My Dreams -- it was (500) Days of Summer that pushed up that song's profile, sure. Remember "Old Time Rock & Roll" wasn't a big hit for Bob Seger until a little movie called Risky Business came out either. Certain movie scenes can really cement a pop song's place in popular culture.

Edgar Winter for me, too!
I just wanted You Make My Dreams last week because I thought it would be the most fun of almost any H&O songs and I've loved it since I was a kid. Hope we see more down the line.

In for Korn probably (my wife is a big fan)...I just hope she doesn't want me to do lyrics. Whoowee, that could be rough.

In for everything til 2013
Would have gotten Freak on a Leash and Free Ride if I wasn't, maybe Frankenstein.
Last week's pack got an average of 2 lighters on pro drums. I liked I Can't Go For That but that was it. 2 out of 3 gold stars on my first or second run through. Will have to play Maneater once or twice more this weekend to get it. Ugh.

DLC for 1/25:
Hey gang,
Creedence Clearwater Revival and their music resonated with audiences of the late-60s and 70s, with a rock and roll style that blended diverse musical styles into a tight and distinct sound. The band found success with songs that evoked imagery of Southern Americana… despite the fact that the band itself was from California!
Their first hit single, “Susie Q,” from 1976’s Chronicle, Vol. 1, first appeared on their self-titled 1968 album, and was their take on rockabilly legend Dale Hawkins’ influential classic. The group found further success with originals, including “Lodi” from 1969’s Green River and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” from 1970’s Pendulum.
These three landmarks in rock history come to the Rock Band Music Store on January 24th as “Creedence Clearwater Revival Pack 02.” For those interested in a deeper dive into a classic, a Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade for “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” will be available.
Available on Xbox 360, Wii™and PlayStation®3 system (January 24th, 2012):
* Creedence Clearwater Revival – “Lodi”
* Creedence Clearwater Revival – “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” O X
* Creedence Clearwater Revival – “Susie Q”
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system February 8th)
Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.
Price:
$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points™) for “Creedence Clearwater Revival Pack 02”
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points, 200 Wii Points™) per song

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Well, let me be the first to say that I am very happy to see Tears for Fears in the DLC loop. I would easily take a 3-6 pack of their bigger (and not so big) hits, but even one song in these days 3-4 tracks per week is a win.
Sum 41...eh, not so much. But if you love 'em, it's a good week for you, too.

Definitely in for Head Over Heels. And, sad to say, that Sum 41 album with Fat Lip on it came out at a very important time in my young adulthood so I have a soft spot for it. I'll probably get that track too and hate myself for it.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I tried to see Sum 41 after Fat Lip was out as a single but before that album actually came out. Their frontman lost his voice or something, though, so it was just The Benjamins and Fenix TX. It took a while for the bands that played to take the stage, and I guess all the kids' curfews had passed by the end. When Fenix TX stepped on the stage, there were, like, 13 people left. I used to know the exact number because they counted and incorporated that into their last song.

If its the song I'm thinking of, I'm all in for Tears for Fears. I know the Sum 41 stuff, but after singing it a couple of times, I would quickly bored of it. Going to be at Sam's Club today, might snag a points card, catch up with some songs.

Yeah, it's the Tears For Fears song that has the chorus :
Can't imagine there's much room for ambiguity there, unless you thought they covered the Go-Go's.
Something happens and I'm head over heels
I never find out til I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart
Don't break my heart
Don't throw it away
I never find out til I'm head over heels
Something happens and I'm head over heels
Ah, don't take my heart
Don't break my heart
Don't throw it away
