So the general consensus is that I jinxed the announcement? Sorry guys

I'll probably get all four as well because I dig that DCfC song.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I tweeted the guitarist for Death Cab asking if he knew which version of the song was in there... he didn't even know it was happening.

Failure's cover of Enjoy the Silence preferably. Fuck...ANY Failure at all.

This is why I live on the Internet, so I don't have to speak. Imagine how much worse it would be if you had to hear me!

Blue Monday and many other longer songs have not been released as edits.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I just listened to the Death Cab song. I had never heard it before, but it's quite good. I think I'm in for everything next week except for Never Let Me Down Again, which I wasn't crazy about.

HMXHenry via Twitter: "Update from Audio on the Death Cab for Cutie song next week: not the 8min album cut OR 4min radio edit, but a unique 5 1/2min version. Fun!"

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Sounds like a very nice compromise. I don't think either of those would have been ideal

Cool - I'm in for those Depeche Mode songs, and probably the Death Cab.

And then to switch into Debbie Downer mode: Seriously, they couldn't just toss one cheap pick in with the Squier?

*** Official feature request ***

I would really like if I could see how far away I was from the next star (or gold) on any particular song from the library. Maybe even sorted with those fractions taken into account (it doesn't do this currently, does it?).

Over time, after everything has been played at least once, I would like to be more instantly rewarded by replaying songs I just barely missed that 5th of gold star.

I've been asking for this forever. It's such an easy thing to add, and would add huge enjoyment to the game. Especially if you could then sort by "Points to Next Star". I used to get that info from Kawigi's site for RB2 and track on Excel, but nobody's made something similar for RB3 yet:

http://rockband.yajags.com/cutoffs/ which is calculated from this Scorehero Wiki:

http://wiki.scorehero.com/CutoffFormulas

I think it may be very difficult to do a site like that for RB3 because while RB2 scoring was a straight "multiplier X base notes" formula, RB3 formulas are way more complicated. Drum and cymbal notes are scored differently, and guitar/drum-solo scores are now figured into the cutoff calcs (where they were simply a bonus tacked on the end before). BTW, if anyone is wondering why you're not getting the gold stars you used to in RB2, it's because of this change to guitar/drum-solo scoring. You basically need to 100% the solo now to score gold.

It is possible to back into cutoffs if you're willing to crunch some numbers. I've got the pro-drum math pretty well nailed down: It appears that the solo Gold Star cutoff for Pre-RB3 songs on RB3 is approx: 1.21 X Kawigi GS cutoff (plus 100% of the solo bonus if the song has a drum solo). 4 and 5 star cutoffs are about: 1.16 X Kawagi cutoff (Drum solos bump the calcs up a bit but I am unable to pinpoint a drum solo modifier for 4 and 5 star cutoffs).

I'm sure you could calc similiar stats for guitar with a little effort. Of course none of these calcs helps for determining cutoffs for post RB2 songs. Step up HMX!
