Well, before all this was revealed, I thought that in order to add a keyboard and do it right, they would have to have 2 "highways," one for each hand. I didn't expect them to just cram two highways into the space for one. And when I saw the footage, I thought they were pushing it with 4 highways. That threatens to make the other instrument lanes hard to see, let alone the tiny keyboard lanes.

Yes, I could see it being a problem for some people. I understand they want this to be a group thing and have as many people involved as possible, but at some point it just gets to be too much for its own good. The Wii version in particular could be difficult because you don't have the benefit of HD.

Hopefully at least you can have larger highways if you're playing with fewer band members. I'd also like to see the keyboard part expand to the size of 2 highways if there's enough room.

I was wondering about that - I'd just done a search the other day for the Dandy Warhols and was surprised to not find the song. I'd thought that maybe it had never actually made it to the RBN after the slight uproar over the higher pricing.

It never made it to the actual store, but it's still available for purchase. Unlike Footloose & Fancy Free. I'm pissed I waited to pick that one up.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

Ever heard of raising prices?

Rhythm Authors are raising prices on a few of their songs on RBN. If you have any interest in any of these songs, get them now. They will be $2 in two weeks.

"Africa" by Quartered
"Death Quota for Purification" by The Myriad Burial
"In Memory" by Excruciating Thoughts
"Life Unworthy of Life" by Warpath
"Packet Flier" by Terrorhorse
"Parhelia" by Heaven Ablaze
"Rip'er" by Lead the Dead

Rhythm Authors - Song Pricing Notification - Rock Band Forums

Lame. If you're a drummer pick up "Africa" by Quartered. It's great.

Are those all fast-tempo, "metal"ish songs? Those are ridiculously popular and I can't blame them.

Really? It seems perfectly logical if you are a record company executive.

Good to know, I'll DL it now. I swear saw it in the store once, though. I remember distinctly that I listened to the preview and looked at the price and thought to my self that I'd buy it if the price ever dropped.

I might be wrong though...wouldn't be the first time I was.

Edit: Yeah, the more I think about it, it probably was one of the other $3 songs I previewed. Did the Blondie one ever make it onto the store?
Also, the link you posted for the trial was cool, but it wouldn't let me upgrade to the full song...so I found the link for the full track if anyone else wants it.http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...0-000045410869 Just remember, it's $3.

After several Parry Gripp songs, Nerf Herder finally makes their RBN debut tonight with "Mr. Spock" http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/ga...0869?cid=SLink

I'll be getting it in just a few moments and I can't wait for more. Entire self-titled debut album PLEASE!

Good news for you folks. Teasdale confirmed that rating songs "1 lighter" means that they will NEVER show up in random setlists.

So this G4 hands-on preview confirms the Tom Petty song from the gamefaqs leak. Jump to the 14-second mark. Via RBA, of course: http://rockbandaide.com/7429/music-f...g-rock-band-3/

Yeah, I saw the video yesterday too. I don't remember you breaking down the frame-by-frame lyrical analysis

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution

I think it's funny that you really think you'll need more than 4 levels of "like it" / "love it" / "wanna have its baby" ratings.

I'd like to know a sampling of songs that you'd rate 2-5 and other songs that should be a 2.5 or 3.5 because you just can't decide

I think all the songs should just have the choices "Marry, Fuck, Kill"

Well previous mentions of the lighter system have indicated that every level of rating will play into the random song selection. So if that's the case, then I'd want more control over that.

I know for Netflix there are plenty of times when I want to rate a movie a neutral or "meh" rating, but you can't. Two stars means I didn't like it, and three stars means I liked it, but sometimes I watch a film that I just didn't feel one way or another about... so the same thing applies to music.

Stop being a rating nazi, pinata.

I know what you're talking about on NF, but for RB it's new and better already, even if it's only 4 discrete data points. I'm not saying that more is a bad thing, I'm just hard-pressed to complain already about it. Hell, I rate pretty much everything on NF as 4 or 5 anyway

Jawohl!
