If one enjoys poker at all I definitely think it's worth it's $10 price point. No question.

I enjoy poker a great deal, and would be hesitant to buy this for $10.

Sad thing is that I won't have time to sit down with it until next week probably.

Which means you'll miss out on the Beginner's Night Texas heat tournaments...which give an extra bankroll bonus to people under level 10.

What happens when you run out of money. Do they just reset you or what?

Rebuy, and it goes against your stats.

There's levels, eh? I'm a sucker for progression-based multiplayer...

So you start with 2500 credits. And you get 250 per game. When you use the 250, they let you buy back in. And are you saying that if you lose all 2500, you can buy back in again? How does that work?

I wonder how fair it'll be for those with a Windows 7 phone to build their bankroll with the phone game. If it unfairly skews the game to those players, I'd be unhappy.

Have you ever played play-money online poker games? There's no limit to how many times you can replenish your busted bankroll. The only thing is that there there's no XP/leveling system to hold you accountable.

Yes.

Mathematics.

you start with 2500. you lose all of that which puts your net at zero. Take a cash advance, that puts you at -(Cash Advance Amount) as a net score. Dig out of that hole, and you're back in the black.

I'm already unhappy and angry, but I'm not sure why.

Yup.

So initially, only free-to-play tables/tournaments are open to you. As you level up, beat pros and earn cash you unlock tables with larger buy ins, and ideally, less idiots.

It'll build their bankroll is all. What other types of advantages are you hoping it won't skew towards them?

That sounds good. One consistent problem with free-to-play poker games is that people play like ass regardless of the buy-in. When it's all virtual money, there's no incentive to play well.

Does it look like it will be fast if playing with friends, or is some of the animation automatic?

At the end of each hand during the showdown, it zooms to the avatar shows what they have and then the winner...like this.

Dingus Has Ace High! (and they cheer)
Dillhole Has 3 Pair! (and they cheer)
Pinata242 has Full House! (And they cheer)
then it rezooms to the winner
Pinata242 wins 30 dollars with Full House! (and he cheers)

Every. Fucking. Hand.

It's a little quicker in texas heat, but not a whole lot.

I'm just hoping it won't be some sort of money-printing machine. I think back to Fable 2 and how there was a glitch in that awful Pub Games XBLA thing that you could exploit and get rich. Of course, we later discovered that there were so many other money glitches in that game that Money wasn't even a factor. But in this game it could be. If some Windows 7 phone-enabled players start rolling in like drunken Kuwaities with huge bankrolls and going all-in all the time, it could really ruin the game.

You're limited to the buy in level.

Buy into a standard table at 5000, that's all you start with. Bust out, then you have to rebuy. Buy into a tournament with 5k, you get one shot. Bust out and you're screwed.

So if they choose to dick around, all they are doing is dropping their bankroll. It's going to be like that no matter what - it's freeroll poker at its finest.

I guess those eight people will just have an advantage then.
