Well, this is spectacular : Microsoft's Cat Stark-like run of making everything worse continues :
Transition from Microsoft Points is Raising Game Prices
Beta testers of the next Xbox dashboard update are reporting significant price hikes.

UK Xbox gamers involved in beta-testing for the next Xbox Dashboard update are experiencing significant price hikes as a result of the transition from Microsoft Points to real currency.
Reddit users have been chronicling the changes, observing around a 30% increase in prices on the UK Xbox marketplace. The dashboard update will convert all your existing Microsoft Points to real money, and update the pricing of everything on the Xbox marketplace. Where you can currently buy 1200 MSP for £9.99 in the UK, games previously on sale for 1200 MSP are now listed at £11.99.
Eurogamer reports that 400 MSP games - previously around £3.20 - now cost £4.49, whereas 1600 MSP games have climbed from £13.60 to £14.99. 800 MSP games, previously £6.80, see a huge increase to £8.99.
When the dashboard update rolls out your MSP will be converted at the existing rate, meaning that 1200 MSP will translate to £9.99 instead of £11.99 in your wallet. It looks like you might want to spend your Microsoft points before the transition to get the most out of them, at least in the UK - we don't yet know how this transition will affect the Xbox Marketplace in other countries. If you've been affected by the above, let us know.
Update: Beta testers from other regions are reporting that prices have very slightly dropped in Australia (by around $1).

This is happening in the UK. UK prices are now in line with what games list for on PS3 and Steam.
It is NOT happening in the US. And the conversation rate in the US is actually slightly better.

With all these changes, it’s become necessary for us to evolve the way we reward you. Starting August 1, 2013, you will not be able to earn Microsoft Points through Xbox Live Rewards any longer. Not to worry, though! Since this currency change is impacting the structure of the program, we’re taking the opportunity to make Xbox Live Rewards even better. You’ll continue to get rewarded for doing the things you love on Xbox Live – just not with Microsoft Points. So come back to rewards.xbox.com on September 1, 2013 for the full scoop. You can also follow us at @XboxLiveRewards on Twitter for the latest updates.
Finally, despite the Microsoft Points changes, all your hard work will not go to waste. On August 7, 2013 we’ll deposit ALL your Pending Rewards Points into your account, even if you have less than 100. And if you still have Points in your Xbox account when Microsoft Points are retired, they’ll be transitioned into your country’s local currency. Your currency will be available for use at the Xbox Stores as usual. For more on the Points transition, see Xbox.com Points FAQ here.

Looks like I need to use my Bing points to buy a couple more 400 point packs before they pull them.

I genuinely wonder if they are going to see significantly smaller sales numbers on these Arcade titles with the XO around the corner and no carryover of the games. I personally don't plan on buying any of them. Heck, I was all amped for Saints Row 4, but don't want to buy a 360 title in August with the new console only a couple months later.

Good question. You would think they'd have a better promo to get people to buy them. I have points to burn, so I don't mind grabbing something like DuckTales this late in the game.

And of course, they have the ultimate buying incentive : "Use your virtual money now before we make it expire in a year!".

How does L&O only have 1 person on his ignore list when the same BS keeps getting repeated ad nauseam?

People will buy a game with no foresight whatsoever if they want to play it.

State of Decay was a rare gem of XBLA that doesn't come to often. Plus you can bet that a lot of LFD fans are playing it to fill the void after LFD2 was way back. And it's not your typical looking arcade game compared to a lot of others out there. For what it is...$20 is a bargain.

I know a lot of people will be bummed about this choice of game cause they already own it or whatever, but I only borrowed it briefly and never had the chance to finish the game to completion. Looking forward to it
