Wednesday's game:

No Wednesday game this week

Friday's game:

No Friday game this week

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Every Wednesday and Friday night, we'll be rotating a game for some multiplayer. This first post will be updated with the necessary information for you to find out what game will be played each week, who the host is, and the start time.

Our weekly leagues are meant for fun and not to "pwn N00bs", so please play accordingly if you're an expert. Our league numbers dwindle when the entire group isn't having fun; nothing is less fun than "multiplayer douchebaggery".

Note: Unless otherwise included in the game info above, DLC packs will only be used if everyone agrees to them.

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

I was hoping this was just a weekly reminder to switch our consoles from vertical to horizontal, or vice versa.

Not everyone knows it but, PS3 rotation is recommended every 300 hours to maintain consistent performance and to extend the overall life of the PS3.

This week's game:

Date: Friday 07/02
Start Time: 9 PM Eastern / 8 PM Central until ???
To Join: Add "frizby" to your buddy list (aka chess in the forum). Sign in Friday night around the start time and wait for an invite.
Awesome!!!!

I was waiting for somebody to step up and volunteer to.....wait...what?

Well played Chew...well played indeed.

Yep...I'll host. I do have the Big Surf Island DLC, so that might limit some folks [edit: confirmed to NOT be a problem], and I'll likely be all about Freeburn Challenges and just messing around...so if you're looking for races and takedowns, look elsewhere. With lots of new folks who don't know their way around town, it would be much fun to try to race anyway.

You'll want to get your custom soundtracks in order between now and tomorrow night.

If you're like me and haven't played Burnout before, you may want to sign-in early to apply the updates.

v1.90 and all the updates combine for 385mb.

From the list, I see that includes some free DLC too.

Correction: it switched to 413mb as it went along.

The update process took over 30 minutes.

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

Yes. Burnout Paradise pretty much a different game from when it launched.

What I'm not sure about is whether folks who don't have Big Surf Island can jump in a game I host....and I can't find an answer online. I'm gonna jump in tonight and freeburn. If somebody without the DLC can try to get in my game to test it, that'd be helpful.

[edit: confirmed to NOT be a problem...thanks Chew]

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

This will be the first Warhawk spin-off I haven't participated in since I joined (other than Borderlands). I was ready to pick this up, but when I saw that I would be spending $33 for the game and the Big Surf DLC I decided not to on principle. I figure eventually they will bring back that awesome bundle with all the DLC and the game for $30, and I'm going to wait for that.

Re: Weekly Friday PS3 Rotation Night

BTW, if you have the disc-based game but haven't downloaded the update pack since 1.5, remember that there are five free promo cars you could access from the options menu. (You can also get around it by deleting the patches, entering the codes, and then re-install the patches). They are rebranded cars with corporate logos.

Sponsor Codes can be found at the main menu whilst the game is paused but only on the disc version prior to the 1.60 update. Select the "Under The Hood" option, choose "Sponsor Code" and then enter one of the following case-sensitive codes to unlock the corresponding sponsor vehicle. If the code is entered correctly then a message will appear displaying that the car is unlocked. The cars will become available in the Junkyard after earning the required license in the Paradise Cars section. All codes contain the number zero and not the letter "o".
1. Wal-Mart Car - walmart - Under The Hood (Enter Sponsor Code) - Burnout License
2. GameStop Car - gamestop - Under The Hood (Enter Sponsor Code) - A License
3. Best Buy Car - bestbuy - Under The Hood (Enter Sponsor Code) - A License
4. Circuit City Car - circuitcity - Under The Hood (Enter Sponsor Code) - Burnout License
5. Amazon "Steel Wheels" Car (one of these five codes should work) -
* "U84D 3Y8K FY8Y 58N6"
* "E60J 8Z7T MS8L 51U6"
* "G23X 5K8Q GX2V 04B1"
* "E165 6L1Q ZQ2H 10V3"
* "Q83E 3H1S BI3B 40P4"

Chew was able to jump in my game no-problem. He just couldn't go over to Big Surf Island...so it's not a problem as long as I don't load any Big Surf Challenges.

Bottom Line: Just get the game dickface.

I'd be shocked if it's more than $12-13 at Gamestop, and I'll bet you right now that you get 50+ hours out of it. If they bring back the $30 sale, they'll likely bring back the $20 DLC sale as well.

Chew hopped on to test the system (DLC vs. non-DLC), and we ended up putzing around for 2 hours.

I have these on my disk-based save, and if memory serves, the Circuit City and Wal-Mart cars are the two worth bothering with. They are both car types that you unlock very late in the game, and they are legitimately cool. Wal-Mart is a formula-1 car and Circuit City is a hot-rod.

The Gamestop car is a very early ricer unlock, and Best Buy is a fairly worthless stock car. Steel Wheels is the only version of the Carson GT I don't like (heavy and slow).

Good tip. I definitely did it.

I would love to be playing this but I play softball on Friday nights so no Burnout for me, or anything else.

I'll try to stop by for a few minutes of playtime, though 6 PM tends to be a busy time with the family. How long will you guys be playing?
