I tried it today and it was fun. It's like Left 4 Dead in that it's Humans against Monsters where teamwork and is key. The Humans have to do things like make it to checkpoints and hold/activate switches or gather parts then fight on while the monster give them shit. If teams stick together they're formidable, but anyone trying to be a "Lone Ranger" gets his/her ass handed to them quick.

I don't know if there's a Horde mode yet, but if there is I'm in.

I found that the pulse rifle worked great.

Actually, I did that - surprised no one assumed it as such.

Initially, he had it set as 100% for each. I was being geeky. Side note: I watched the whole thing at 64x48.

Here's a trailer for Severed. I hate to pay 6 bucks for 2 chapters but dammit, I will be buying this day one.

Re: Dead Space 2

Doesn't look like the powers that be are too happy with DS so far. I thought it was doing well but I haven't really paid attention to the sales numbers.

http://gamerant.com/dead-space-3-to-...ate-tao-67713/

Last month saw the release of Dead Space 2, and after finishing and reviewing it, Game Rant took to speculating what the future would hold for Isaac Clarke in Dead Space 3. If, of course, there was to be a Dead Space 3.

It appears that if EA’s head honcho John Riccitiello has anything to say about it (he does), then there will indeed be a third entry in the horror shooter franchise, one that will have a ton of pressure placed upon it.

At the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, Riccitiello listed some of the strong and growing franchises that exist under the Electronic Arts banner — games that he hopes to see developed into more and more sequels.

Though he named some of EA’s most popular, banner series, Dead Space was left off that list and instead named as a title that still needs to prove itself, along with Bioware’s upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.

“Right now we’ve got strong, growing franchises including Madden, FIFA… Need for Speed, Medal of Honor and Battlefield – I include them as one because we’re unlikely to ship them in any one year at the same time…[There's also] Mass Effect… Dragon Age… and the one that’s sort of not proven that’s coming later in our fiscal year, Star Wars [The Old Republic]…That excludes Dead Space because I think it will probably take Dead Space 3 before we get into that five million unit cadence versus say three, four.”

While, as Riccitiello indicated, Dead Space 2 has enjoyed success that any major publisher would be proud of, it clearly hasn’t reached the status that EA was hoping for it. Both developer Visceral and EA have expressed interest in keeping the series going, leaving the thought of a Dead Space 3 a no brainer.

It is still interesting to consider that Dead Space, a franchise that many gamers hope to see continue for years to come, has not entered that realm of success that EA envisions for all of its properties.

Either way, Dead Space has proven itself to be a winner among the fans, and Visceral Games has shown that it can improve upon its previous work while still delivering the namesake qualities that gamers hope to find in each iteration. Let us hope that Dead Space 3 performs well enough to warrant a “strong franchise” tag.

Do you consider Dead Space to be one of EA’s strong and growing franchises? Do you think that Dead Space 3 will be as successful as its predecessor?

You want to keep Peng and all circuitboards in your inventory until the end of the game for the secret ending.

Especially if you miss a circuitboard from one of the necros that drop them.

Re: Dead Space 2

Don't forget the power nodes. If you complete the game on Zealot difficulty without using a single one, you unlock invincibility for your Hard core playthrough.

A struggle, but it's totally worth it.

Re: Dead Space 2

FYI to anyone looking to get the new DLC on the Xbox. Microsoft has not yet updated their servers to track the achievements. This means you can earn them on your local profile, but you'll never get credit for them on the online portion. Later, when they're added online, you may be able to re-earn them by recovering your gamertag and trying again. No guarantees though since not every game tracks stats the same way.

Best to just wait it out until they show up here: http://live.xbox.com/en-US/GameCente...eId=1161890015

This is no joke. 15 chapters in the main game and my three playthroughs broke down like this:

1 - Normal - 10.5 hours
2 - Casual - 6.5 hours
3 - Zealot - 5 hours

I can wait for a sale for this one.

Re: Dead Space 2

It probably depends on how much you explore and take in the environment.

I'll wait for a sale on this as well.

Re: Dead Space 2

I played and finished Severed tonight. It took my a couple of hours on Normal difficulty but I also searched every nook and cranny and took my time.

One thing to note, it appears that the DLC does not give you a New Game + mode which really sucks. Kinda defeats the purpose of spending nodes on stuff during the two chapters since
Spoiler:
the main character is not going to continue past the 2nd chapter due to the ending.
Kinda defeats the purpose of multiple play-throughs in my opinion.

I liked the story and think they could go further with it and it was worth my 7 bucks. But I love DS and really only recommend it for either fans or achievement whores.
