To be honest i wasn't even looking at the game until for the heck-of-it I checked the "Offical Red Dead Redemption Launch Trailer" over at Teamxbox...

I have to say it really looks good and the thought of co-op DLC coming in June (Six missions) may push me to the Buy It section. Plus a break from "sci-fi" & "world war" shoot-em' ups may be the right thing. Pretty solid trailer at 2 minutes.

I don't have a mic either, but if I can find one pretty cheap I'll pick one up. I don't generally play much online, but I'm really interested in at least checking this one out.

And for what it's worth, I had this on pre-order from Amazon to get the $20 credit, but I had to cancel that order. All of the videos and stuff I've seen and heard has given me no other choice but to pick this up at the midnight launch at GameStop. I traded in some games for the "Save $40" deal, and a another one I tossed in, which will just about cover the cost of the game. It would suck having to wait for this one to ship to me and be seeing all of the reviews and board comments about it while I wait.

I checked more videos at Amazon showing different styles MP modes....wow! Gold Rush, Hold Your Own and Grab the Bag looked cool. A big plus was day & night battles....I pretty much see Rockstar Games adding more DLC to this especially if they have coop already scheduled before the game is even out...love to have the game off the bat but I need the Amazon $20 card for another game.

I went ahead and put my pre-order in but I've been looking around for answers on a few things and haven't found them....

In the MP and up-coming co-op modes is your character pre-made, choose from a list or is customization available...like face and clothes?

In MP "Free Roam" they're lisiting " Posse, Gang Hideouts and Ambient Challenges"...the way it's read it sounds like co-op mode more than MP especially with Ambient Challenges where it's states....
whether alone or with other Free Roam Players or with your Posse explore unmarked hunting areas and take on deadly predators"

And in Gang Hideouts I find it hard to believe that you would gather up a Posse and take on another team of 'Bandits" that have nothing better to do than hang out in a town and wait on another team to confront them. especially in Free Roam.

Doesn't look boring to me either. It looks exactly like GTA4, which I absolutely love. I'm hoping that was an early demo though, because it did look a little glitchy.

GTA4 though had horrible controls, on foot your character felt like he wieghed 1200 pounds, moving around in tight spaces was a pain, cars controlled like crap. I thought GTA4 was a huge step backward from San Andreas. and I read one preview of Red Dead Redemption that one foot control was the same as GTA4 which sucks.

I agree with the tight spots sometimes being a pain in GTA IV, but the cars felt fine. Not as good as say Saints Row 2, but they felt fine to me.

In the more than 1,100 articles I have written for this newspaper since 1996, I have never before called anything a tour de force. Yet there is no more succinct and appropriate way to describe Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar rides again.

Wow, that was a nice review. I love the fact that he said he was more afraid of wolves and bears while hunting than bandits.

Why aren't there more reviews already? Seems like we should have more opinions by now. I'm just kinda worried since a lot of these "reviews" sound like promo pieces from Rockstar. I'm also suspicious that the top 5 highest rated videos on xbox live are all RDR videos.

I thought the major sites had a review embargo? Maybe that's why.

You'll most likely get an email tonight saying it's been shipped. I have never had a game I ordered with release date delivery arrive late, and we're talking at least a dozen games.
