You think Nintendo would allow cross-buy?
You should also save $7.99 to buy Super Mario World for the umpteenth time on the NX, too.

Nintendo. WTF.
Ah. I can't even keep up with this shit.

And what's with them releasing new model after new model, without much of an upgrade, so quickly?

Feels like Nintendo has done this regularly with their handhelds. I complained a lot about it here when the new 3DS was announced, although usually there aren't that many features or exclusive games to the new upgraded model.

As for why the "old" 3DS can't run the SNES games.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/a...n-new-3ds.aspx

“As previously announced, New Nintendo 3DS has an improved CPU, which enables Super NES games to run on the system with quality results,” Game Informer was told by a Nintendo representative. “The Super NES games also include Perfect-Pixel mode, which allows players to see their games in their original TV resolution and aspect resolution.”
Still surprised that whatever emulator can't run SNES games with quality on the old hardware, but poo on that.

The original 3DS came out in 2011. The "New" 3DS came out in 2015. I wouldn't consider that "so quickly".

What about the XL, the 2ds, releasing only the New XL at first then releasing the normal sized new 3ds later. Not to mention the confusing naming of the new system. After last generation's DS, DS Lite, DSi, and DSi XL.

The dumbest thing is that I swear they would sell even more consoles if they made portability of your account a lot easier.

I agree with you on those I was showing that it had been 4 years between the 3DS and the new 3DS which is the only "new" portable they've released. The other ones are just bigger screens/smaller screens but the same exact system.

Yeah, I got confused with all those models between the 3DS and the new 3DS, assuming "new" was just another incremental upgrade like the rest.

Wow, no posts for seven months? Did it lose that much steam? That's kinda a long time without posts. Getting one two weeks from Friday. First up: Picross 3D 2, the Picross e series, Pokémon Picross, and Mario Kart.

The 3DS is basically at the end of its life. Its release slate has been really sparse for a while now (though still better supported than the Wii U), and what's believed to be its successor will be unveiled in a couple of hours.

There's a supposed successor to the 3DS??? I thought the NX was the only thing in production (and that it was not a handheld).

We ought to find out for sure in a couple of hours, but all signs are pointing to the NX (or whatever it winds up being called) basically replacing both the 3DS and the Wii U.

Int - eres - ting.... I'll be tuning in I'm gonna hold off until at least December on the purchase, though, as I see prices plummeting.

I'm sure that'll be a great time to buy in. The 3DS has a really outstanding library, so you have a lot to look forward to!

Anyone ever used the Amiibos with Picross 3D Round 2? I'm wondering how many puzzles each Amiibo unlocks. Thanks! It sounds like one, but $8-$20 for ONE puzzle?

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

Yeah, the 3DS is definitely on the downtrend, but the biggest selling game on the system hasn't been released yet. I'm sure Pokemon Sun & Moon will outsell any previous 3DS game released. Pokemon X/Y is the current bestselling game at around 15M, but with Pokemon so hot right now with Go, I'm pretty sure that Sun & Moon will exceed those numbers easily.

Each amiibo unlocks a single puzzle. You also have to view that $8-$20 as going towards a collectable figure that also happens to unlock content for a selection of games. If your only interest in amiibo is for this game and this game only, it doesn't make sense to pick any up. If you're at all interested in the figure aspect and/or have a large library of compatible games, the price is pretty reasonable for them.

Holy shit! I just got a new 3DS game (Mario Maker)! Probably my final game for the system.

I already have MM for the WiiU, and while I never create my own levels, I have a blast playing the near infinite Mario levels available from other creators.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I thought the biggest knock against Mario Maker for 3DS was that you can't share levels...maybe I'm wrong.

Pokémon sun and moon sold like gangbusters.

I am still playing Majora's Mask and Fire Emblem Fates!

I've heard that they're going to patch in that ability later.

So I figured since I got one of those $99 New 3DS units on BF, I should check out that Xenoblade game I've heard so much about but couldn't ever play before. Guess what? It's out of print now. Fantastic.

Yes it is. I guess I'll go that route, once I grab some discounted credit for the eShop.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I think it's so stupid that you can't associate more than one 3DS to a single Nintendo ID. I have some purchased games on a 3DS XL and now I have one of those cheap New 3DS models. I wanted to try Xenoblade Chronicles and since it's OOP, it seems the only way to get it is to upgrade the memory in the New 3DS, then do a system transfer onto the New 3DS, then add the currency to my account, then buy Xenoblade. Really inelegant. And I like my 3DS XL so it's a shame I won't be able to play digital games on it any more. I get that they don't want us to game-share, but man their system of DRM is stupid and inconvenient.
It's not like it's unheard of to own more than one version of the 3DS -- Hell, they must be expecting you to own multiple systems -- the New 3DS doesn't even come with a charging cable.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

Yes.. this is Nintendo - among the same stupid shit people have been calling them out for for TEN SOLID YEARS now. They just don't give a damn. Not about doing things properly, not about showing their customers a small bit of respect.
