Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

In Springfield, Illinois, but they should be returnable to any Best Buy store. There is nothing in their return policy against returning opened game systems within 30 days. And when I said I got a full refund, I meant for the system itself. I did not ask for or receive a refund on the $20 I put on the machine for Nintendo's e-shop.

Exchange and Return Period
Exchange or return your item anytime from the original purchase date within the timeframe below:

•14 days for computers, monitors, projectors, camcorders, digital cameras, iPads, tablets and radar detectors
•30 days for all other products
•45 days for all products for Reward Zone Program Premier Silver members*

*If you are returning a mobile phone or device with a plan, Best Buy is not responsible for carrier charges incurred after the carrier's cancellation period. Please refer to the terms and conditions of your plan to verify the carrier conditions.

Non-Returnable Items

Some items cannot be returned, including:

•Labor, delivery and/or installation services
•Pre-paid cards such as music, photo, video or phone cards
•Digital content (e.g. music downloads from Napster)
•Pitch In™ Card contributions
•Consumable items such as food, drink and batteries
•Items that are damaged or abused
•Items that are missing accessories, such as remote controls, cords and cables
•Etched or otherwise personalized items
•Opened computer software, movies, music and video games can be exchanged for the identical item but cannot be returned for a refund

Well, it looks like the rumor of an add on with a second circle pad might be true. Famitsu is reporting on it and has a picture.

I guess when this monstrosity of a thing fails, we'll see a 3DS with two circle pads announced.

It's not exactly slim now, this will just bulk it up even more. Plus you would have to buy it.

And I agree that the next version of the 3DS will have a second built in circle pad, and will probably address the battery issue too. Personally, I'm curious to see how the Sony Vita turns out.

As well as eat even more battery life.

I guess we'll see, but I can't imagine buying that ...thing... on its own, and certainly won't be replacing the 3DS I just bought anytime in the foreseeable future.

Were developers and consumers really clamoring for a second stick anyway?

Yeah, this doesn't really address the problems people have with the system. Although it fits in with Iwata and Myamoto saying the Wii didn't win over the core because it wasn't HD. They're on a roll.

That thing is a monstrosity. Nintendo has no idea what they're doing anymore, do they...

It's for the next Monster Hunters game. They're huge in Japan for whatever reason. Still, there are several MH games for the PSP and that only has one stick...

That add on is terrible looking. Give yourselves another pay cut, Nintendo executives.

Perhaps this has a battery pack built in? That would explain the bulkiness. Extra analog stick, perhaps another 5 to 10 hours of battery life, would make this a desirable add-on.

It's like Sega with the 32x and CD add-on. WTF.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I don't own a 3DS and don't plan to for a few years when the improved version is out at a cheaper price, but just thought I'd follow up on Heat's earlier comment. Best Buy does allow the return of opened videogame systems for 30 days. I've done it with a 360 before and no questions were asked.

Like almost every add on ever, there will be five games that utilize the second stick. And if that's really what it looks like, then fuck Nintendo.

As one of those games is Monster Hunter, I'm sure Nintendo doesn't care, at least concerning sales in Japan. And if Monster Hunter is the main game that uses it, US customers won't have to worry about it anyway. At least it's only 10 bucks or so...

Well of course, once they release the dual stick edition early next year... I mean, how many original DS Fats do you see these days? The current 3DS will quickly get shuffled off into the back of drawers and pawn shops.

Ok, 20 bucks or so. And Monster Hunter 4 a 3ds exclusive? That's big news (for Japan). Until they come out with Monster Hunter 4v or some other naming convention for the Vita, since I doubt Sony is going to let go of the franchise that almost singlehandedly drove PSP sales in JP.

They didn't say MH4 is a 3DS exclusive, only that it's coming to the 3DS. Did you read that somewhere?

Ah, you're right, it's just rampant speculation. Sorry about that.

Also Kid Icarus is apparently not coming out this year, not sure if that was known before the conf.

Nintendo's add-on button device for its 3DS video game machine is facing criticism as a possible design flaw and a detraction for the already struggling portable.

Some critics say Nintendo Co. is embarrassed about the $20 “slide pad,” noting President Satoru Iwata didn't mention a word about the gadget at his presentation earlier this week.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

Pilotwings Resort is $19.99 at Amazon this week (and Best Buy as well, So is Nintendogs + Cats). Is Pilotwings Resort an enjoyable enough game to be worth $20? Or should I just hold tight until I can find Starfox 64 3D cheap?

The free download of Zelda: Four Swords is up for 3DS and DSi. According to this, there is a new single player version of the game.
