Sell that on craigslist to help fund a purchase at Best Buy. You'll end up with the system and 20 games for about $130.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I give them credit for acting quickly with the price AND taking care of early adopters.

For me, the reason it doesn't get much use, besides lack of games, is battery life. If it had decent battery life (or faster charge time) it would make a decent replacement for a DS or DSi, but with the current battery life, no way. And the 3-D, at least at this point, is more of a novelty and/or annoyance than a feature, plus it further drains the battery.

I'm holding off until at least the 2nd generation of hardware. The DS Phat was ugly and didn't interest me in the slightest. The DS Lite along with New Super Mario Brothers convinced me to jump on the bandwagon. I'm hoping we'll have a similar improvement in hardware form factor, battery life, etc.

Wow. Not that $80 is a ton of money or anything, but I feel dumb having bought this thing so close to launch. The game selection has been pitiful and while I thought we were getting some good titles this summer, everything has been pushed back to 2012 it seems like. It's still a cool system, but really only because of the 3D screen. The games are just garbage so far.

Quite a price drop this early. Wow. I'll gladly take the free games though!

In all honesty, the 3DS is a pretty good little system. the 3D on games like Zelda and RE:The Mercenaries is actually quite impressive. I don't find myself getting eye strain anymore like I did in week 1, even when cranked way up. More people playing the system is a good thing.

What's the battery life like? I've heard that it is really poor when using 3D, but how many hours is it?

Also, how long does the battery last if playing regular DS games?

I've been wanting to get one of these to play Star Fox and Zelda, and with this price drop, I might finally get one.

With 3d on, I think you can get around 3-4 hours. Then the real problem is that it takes almost that long to charge back up.

With the 3d turned off (or playing DS games) with Wifi off, you can probably get 5-6.

But, unless your 8 years old - how the hell do you have time to play for that long in a stretch? (Speaking as an adult gamer mind you)

Nope, there's no incentive to purchase any right now. I'd be more interested in a portable VC system anyway.

Black. I just can't stomach the black-on-blue when the other one is open.

Re: Nintendo Announces 3DS - 3D w/o Glasses!

I know what you mean about being undecided. This morning I was pretty amped to pick one up -- $170 for a new system plus 20 free download games is a great deal. But I went to Game Stop at lunch to pick up Bloodstone and I checked the 3DS out... I can't get over how blurry it looked. I was watching the Street Fighter IV game. I thought the 3D added nothing to the gameplay or the experience, but the blurriness really bothered me. If I really want to play a game in 3D I can fire up the PS3 and play Killzone 3, Gran Turismo 5, Motorstorm Apocalypse, Crysis 2, LBP 2 or De Blob 2 in high definition on a 60" screen in surround sound. And I rarely want to do that. So what would I use this for? I almost never travel. It's tougher to pull the trigger than I had thought. The PS Vita for me is a must buy at $200, but this I'm still not sure about.

Do you folks who bought one really like it? Use it much?

When I step into a best buy the amount of great games outnumbers psps small library of great games. If history repeats itself I'd say the 3ds is worth the purchase over vita for the games.

I saw that argument made a lot this past generation. But in all honesty, there have been very few DS games I've really loved and kept on playing. New SMB, Mario and Luigi : Bowser's Inside Story, Dragon Quest IX. That might be it. I don't play Pokemon and don't really get into old JRPGs. While it was far from fantastic system, with the better graphics, the GTA games, the racing games, and the action RPGs, I got more use out of my PSP than I did from my DS.

There are a few Vita games I really am excited to get. Plus I get a lot of things off PSN through Playstation Plus. Though I might very well be able to swing both systems, my first priority would be the Vita. Despite the stupid name.

And checking IGN, it does sound like there are some promising 3DS games coming in 2012. I had forgotten about Luigi's Mansion 2. I still might get one of these things.

The DS system was worth it for the Ace Attorney series alone, loved those games! I've still got a ridiculous backlog on the little system. I'll enjoy it for years to come (and I'll enjoy 3DS's offerings as well).

I only got the first one -- on the ipod Touch for 99 cents. Not the most compelling argument for the DS.

Yeah, I was expecting the other games to quickly follow but it hasn't happened yet. Still, the first game is an extremely respectable port, plays very well on iOS.

I bought my son a 3DS a few months ago. I'm anti-Nintendo so I haven't messed with it, but it is pretty cool from what I've seen. He loves it and plays it all the time.
