Looks like Ben Kuchera over at Ars Technica opted to delay his review for Brink even further - he'll explain why tomorrow AM after the embargo is up.

Be sure to post the details here. I'm curious to see what else is to this story.

Looks a lot like Team Fortress 2. Not in a bad way. I'm just not into multiplayer only games. If I'm spending $60 give me both campaign and multiplayer.

This trailer makes the game look a hell of a lot more fun than actually watching someone play the game did.

Even with the low reviews, which I expected, I still sort of planned on picking this up when it was cheap so my friends could play some coop..5-10 hours is worth 20 bucks to us...but that joystick review talks about the lack of a lobby, and how to get your friends to join a game you need to start a game, and then invite them in...what the hell is this...Russia?

Shame on any company that does not make a better system to start games with your friends, especially when the game brags about its coop...only Capcom can get away with that shit anymore, and only then because I swear the dudes that run that company are on drugs....so I give them a pass..

Definitely smells like a stinker. It didn't look like a lot of fun based on the Giant Bomb Quick Look:

Having only played an hour or so i gotta say I regret buying this game. I been so pumped for this game as all the previews looked amazing. Games performance sucks, Game is extremely choppy, Maps suck too many choke points where everyone just sprays bullets at each other jumping and sliding around isnt smooth and you dont feel like a badass like you did in Mirrors Edge.

worst purchase I have made in years. Stay away.

So looking at the above reviews this is a game you are either going to love or hate. There is a review up on msnbc.com which I cannot access from work but the headline says "Brink is wickedly fun". I am still glad I canceled my preorder since I have other games to play for now. I will give this game a shot down the road when there is more info on it and the price is lower.

Re: Brink Game official thread

I'll wait and hold judgment when I actually play the game in solo, coop and MP. and like I said if it doesn't pan out it'll suffer the same fate as Crackdown 2...traded in within one month for a decent credit.

As to reviews we're probably going to see a mix bag from here to overseas. It's obvious to the three video reviews BigDave posted. Much like we saw with Bulletstorm, you'll (they"ll) will either like it or hate it.

From what little I've seen the very first part of playing the game is a far cry from later on when you actually obtain and add more custom parts to your character and able to get both Heavy and Lite build. It seems that's when the real fun kicks in. The key seems to be added DLC and especially maps(if and when) where it's noted that's where it's limited with essentially same missions are played over and over again.

8 maps of pretty much the same 8vs8 multi-player-only games? This should've been a $20 downloadable title.

The reviews of this game are going to simply boil down to whether or not the reviewer likes these particular types of team based shooters. If you enjoy these team based objective hunts that have little to no story then this game might be for you. However, if you are looking for substance and a little innovation then this title will likely not please you. I have a friend who hates having a story and really liked Team Fortress 2 and said that he really thought that this game was awesome after watching the stream of the guy playing. On the other hand watching him play for an hour or so really turned me off from the game.

The article was posted today.

Essentially... the game they played wasn't finished. What they played was nearly unplayable (especially co-op). Supposedly the XBOX patch is out today to fix a wealth of problems.

I think that's an oversimplification, at least when it comes to the reviewers. Most of the negative reviews are focused on repetition, limited maps and no different game types on each map, glitches and lack of polish as well as the terrible, unplayable single-player game. It's not just that they don't like MP team-based shooters, there seem to be other legitimate concerns.
