I finally did the 2nd crate challenge. I think I had 1 second left too, but I was so happy to be done with that one. I beat Bowser last night, and yeah it was easy, but getting to him was really fun. Now I'm off to complete the rest of the challenges and I think I have 1 comet challenge left.
Great game but I do agree with Swinger, this isn't as hard, for me, as SMG1. This is just more fun, which is even better!

I'm around 60 stars and just started world 5 (been knocking out the prankster levels as they pop up). I'm really not finding this game any more challenging than the first one thus far. I'm getting most of the prankster levels on the first or second try.

Overall, I'm loving the level design, and I'd say it's the best game I've played thus far this year. It doesn't feel as groundbreaking as the first one, but it has plenty of good ideas to build on it.

I opened up the final Bowser fight, but I'm holding off until I get all of the stars.

On the original SMG, how do you get the ? star in the Gusty Galaxy and the Freeze Flame galaxy?

Holy crap were a couple of those hard! The comet coin on Stone Cyclone Galaxy had me cursing a bit, and if you didn't think the purple coins on disappearing platforms was tough enough on SMG, now you get to do it with a timer...and with a metric f-ton of shadow marios!

Awesome game...spot on controls...a camera you hardly ever think about...great new power-ups (cloud and drill were my favorites)...challenging but not cheap...Yoshi was better than I expected...just everything good and pure about videogames.

It's easy to overlook, since it borrows so much from its predecessor, but it's easily the best game I've played this year...and it's been a good year (Bioshock 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Darksiders, God of War 3, etc.)

I know...started the green stars and have 3-4 of them. It just looked like an easter-egg hunt. More to it than that?

I beat the purple coin stage on this one on the first try, I thought it was easier than in Galaxy 1. Maybe because it took so long to get all of them in Galaxy 1.

Yes, the green stars are like an Easter Egg hunt. Random places. Challenging though.

So I finished Bioshock, now on to Galaxy (helloooo 2007!). I've finished World 1 & 2, got all stars and medals, couple silver crowns on each but no sign of any prankster stuff. Am I missing something?

Well to answer my own inquiry, the Prankster Comets started showing up once I hit 29 stars. Odd number choice. I did three of them, nothing painstaking yet, but I have a loooong way to go.

I'm really digging the cloud suit, but so far half the times the game wants you to use it, you can get by with either a back flip or a long jump.

I'm late to the party, but kept up with the thread so after reading comments like these I was pretty excited given how easy the original Galaxy was. After [nearly] finishing the game (at 118 and have the final 2 stars, haven't attempted them yet), I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. The game was awesome, as expected, but I guess I was just expecting the whole game to be difficult on a Prankster level.

Were there a few Stars that were frustrating? Sure, but none that couldn't be gotten after a few tries. I think I only had Rosalina pop up on one level. I never had to set aside a level and come back to it. I guess I can see others getting annoyed, but here's how I would lay out the two games on a difficulty scale:

It wasn't and this one wasn't either. Actually, I think the one in 2 was easier.

In hindsight, I think I got through this one [coin level] quicker too...pretty sure I typed that after some initial frustration that was fairly short-lived.

But I don't believe for a second that anybody got through that level on their first try, as somebody said in here somewhere.

Anyway, glad you liked the games...certainly some easy levels, but plenty of challenge too for those looking for it.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I was just expecting more of a challenge given the feedback in this thread.

Anyway, I did the first 15 Green Stars and, hot damn, this is what I'm talkin' about. More challenging and way more fun than simply running through the game a second time with Luigi. I gave up on Galaxy after about 180 because it was boring doing the same shit twice. Kudos to Nintendo for coming up with something better this time out. I might actally try for them all this time.

I get it. I found it challenging, but not in a "let me try this a million times and rage quit" kind of way. Rather, you sort most things out on your first 2-5 tries, and the game leaves you feeling like you did something skillful.

I guess I find these games challenging but not punishing...if that makes sense.

Cool. I'm just trying to balance out the "game is hard as fuck" feedback with some "not really" for those that haven't jumped into it yet.

I really dug Cloud Mario, but found the suit to be pretty useless 90% of the time. The bulk of the time you can simply backflip or use the long jump to get where you need to go. There were only a handful of instances where it was required. Drill Mario was cool, but Rock Mario-not so much. Wasn't a fan of Bee Mario in either game, but at least they are trying some new suits and not just sticking with what works in the 2D series.

I'm currently going through and collecting the 120 green stars. I'm at about 50 and I think this is my favorite part of the game Looking forward to unlocking that last galaxy.

The new 3D Mario game is supposedly out by October. I'm hopeful that the new entry is something different, but I also kind of want a part 3 of the galaxy series. Since it's the year of Luigi, possibly Super Luigi Galaxy?

It would be awesome to see something like the Galaxy games in HD, I thought they were some of the best looking games of the last (current?) generation, and it would certainly be the killer app that the Wii U needs right now.
