I'm getting mine back this weekend and it's my goal to push through next week/weekend and finish it up. Really looking forward to getting back to it.

I'm working on this one too. I sort of keep putting it off for other games, but I'm playing it a little at a time.

Started keeping tabs on all the fun Deadly Premonition videos being made out there. This first link features a look at the original trailer for the game (No York! No Zach! No scary kid twins!), several 8bit remakes of the Life is Beautiful theme, and DP levels being made for WarioWare DIY for the Nintendo DS. Check 'em out.

So it only took me about 3 hours to get caught up. After doing that, I played up to the beginning of Episode 3. It sure gets interesting in Episode 2!

Picked this up at lunch time since you guys have been talking this one up so much.
Anything I need to know before getting started to avoid being stuck besides don't play any missions over?

Like you said, don't use the "replay chapter" option until you finish the game completely. If you do that at the wrong time, you can permanently lose key items.

Also, you may want to look up a side quest guide and get the Radio (enables fast travel) and the 10mm SMG with unlimited ammo ASAP. They are not a necessity, but will make things a lot less frustrating.

Thanks, I'll do that.

I assume this was just a late April Fool's joke? http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/108/1081757p1.html

I wish that Limited Edition was real.

I'm playing on normal and not really having any trouble at all.

Yeah I didn't have much trouble on Normal either, I just tell people to play it on easy and enjoy the story.

re: A modicum of moderator make-outs (Bonus Thread: Deadly Premonition)

Finished this up last night. I have to say, I wasn't super happy with the last few hours. SUPER SPOILERS TO FOLLOW:
Spoiler:
I was fine until George turned into a magic monster. Until that point, stuff was far-fetched but still in the realm of possibility. Then they just went off the rails into the world of "magic" and "demons". Ditto for Kaysen. Plus it felt like the story got really muddled there at the end. How are Zack and York the same person, yet they exist simultaneously in two different realms? York ends up in "the world of the dead", but I don't remember him dying. What were the "red room" and "white room" all about? Why does Kaysen need to "plant" the sapling in a girl if there are already a ton of red trees and red seeds in Greenvale? Why is Kaysen a magic space alien demon? What is his master plan?

I dunno, it just sort of lost me towards the end there.

That being said, I really enjoyed the game and easily got my $20 worth out of it.

MORE SUPERSPOILERS TO RESPOND TO THOSE SUPERSPOILERS:
Regarding the ending:
Spoiler:
Yeah the boss battles kind of took me out of it too, as it clearly became a "video game" at that point. On one hand it was necessary but on the other hand it kinda felt like it betrayed everything up until then.

Regarding Zach and York:
Spoiler:
Zach's personality split when he saw his father kill his mother, and "York" took over to keep Zach safe. York never really existed, it was just a fragment of Zach's personality. Once Zach re-emerged, he wasn't needed anymore.

Spoiler:
That much made sense. But then at the very end, Isaach and Isaiah can see York with the "goddesses". The only other people in that "realm" are dead. Maybe I'm overthinking it and it's just supposed to be vague and unexplained. Maybe York is just figuratively dead at that point?

Anyway, Kaysen being a crazy space demon still came out of nowhere. That whole aspect of the story really rubbed me the wrong way.

Oh, and did you notice the red highlight on the first letter of each character's name in the credits? Is there a significance to the "one character per letter of the alphabet" thing, or was it just a wacky quirk?

Spoiler:
Bingo. And yes, it seemed to just be a wacky quirk of the Swery guy. He mentioned it in a blog posting on the DP website.

I'm borrowing this game from Gramps and am so incredibly excited. I <3 Twin Peaks so hopefully this will be my piece of pie!

Finished. Good lord this game doesn't ever want to end.

I'll have more thoughts tomorrow, when I'm at work and can be paid to type them out.

Sorry if it's been asked already, but what seems to be the average completion time for a first playthrough?

I finished it in 20 hours, and that's without doing many of the side quests.
