Having gone back to read the "mole" report, it sounds like we're really looking at a new kind of guitar that simultaneously allows for "Pro" mode with more buttons/positions and a keyboard. My guess is that you could set this new "keytar" on a table or stand for a proper two-handed piano experience.

Can we create a sub-forum for Pinata's penis innuendos?

It doesn't have to be very big.

I've got faith in Harmonix, but seeing the word "keytar" made me a little sad. I'm still looking forward to seeing what's coming.

I don't understand this at all. A keytar makes PERFECT sense for the game.

*shrug* I've played a real keytar and just didn't like it as much as keyboard or piano. They just strike me as odd, and the regular band game guitar is already close enough to a keytar. I guess it wouldn't surprise me if I end up loving whatever they came up with, but it wouldn't have been my choice.

A keytar will be the death of Rock Band.

Am I the only one that had never heard it called a Keytar until last week's episode of Community?

Why are people flipping out upset over the "keytar"? It's just another damn music track than you can control from a guitar controller.

Let's hope they put some kind of sensor in it to make sure you wise guys don't realize you can play a keytar like a regular keyboard.

I was born late enough in the '70s to vividly remember when these types of keyboards were everywhere, and I still don't think I'd ever heard the term 'keytar' until six or seven years ago. On a lark, I was trying to find an image of one as a joke at work and had a really tough time finding one because I didn't know what they were called. :)

I don't remember them being called anything back in the day...I'd just see people playing them in music videos, on TV, in movies (most memorably? The Digital Underground rocking one in Dan Aykroyd's "Nothing but Trouble", a movie that used to be on HBO seven or eight times a day, every day). I never heard anyone talk about them, so I never heard them called anything at all...I'd just see them everywhere. To me, they were just a keyboard with a different shape.
