Will songs that get downloaded a lot/highly rated be automatically push pushed into the real marketplace and available to queue up on the web?

Dunno, that one's obviously on the MP. I d/ed it and it shows up as an RBN song in the QP menu. It does not, however, currently appear in the RBN store through the game. I did not check the regular HMX Music Store.

Re: Rock Band Thread - This thread was made for Rockin, and that's just what it'll do

the text online says "The Rock Band Network community has approved this song for sale." so that means something...

Re: Rock Band Thread - This thread was made for Rockin, and that's just what it'll do

I know. And, as I said, it has an RBN icon next to it in the QP menu. So it's still, technically, an RBN song. It just has apparently transcended both in-game music stores.

I'd like to get these three, but alas, I too only have a PS3....

Has there been any indication yet what "A selection of standout tracks will then be made available on the PlayStation®3" exactly means? WHO is determining which ones are going to be considered "standout tracks" and HOW are they making this determination? (Sales??)

HMXThrasher (a HMX developer) posted this in RB forums:

Believe me, nothing would please us more than having all RBN songs appear on the PS3. The simple truth of the matter is that the infrastructure required for something like this (that no one has really done before on consoles) requires not only significant engineering on our side but on the part of the first-parties. Luckily, Microsoft had much of that infrastructure in place on their side through their XNA program. We are continuing to talk to Sony and hope to get as many songs onto that console as they can handle. Thank you for your interest in this program, and please know that we are working hard on our end to open this up to as many people as humanly possible.

I dunno, that sounds like a line. I can understand needing XNA for the submission and peer review processes, but once a song is given the go-ahead, I don't see why that can't be packaged and shipped to PSN and Wii simultaneously. I don't care if it's a million times over. I'm sure everyone involved would love to have a full revenue stream from every song they produce/release.

Of course this would happen when my 360 red rings on me.

My guess is that it takes time to coordinate such a move for every track. Time they would rather dedicate to charting licensed bands and RB3.

In the related link it says they will have to take the top picks in RBN and hand move them over to the other consoles RB Stores. Its not a simple drag and drop from one system to the next.

I'll just try to think of it as that rare time that my PS3 saved me some money.

I doubt it's very complicated. It's the game engine that uses the song file. Once that song file is finalized, even if it's in a "360 format", you know they can extract and port that over automatically. They're not charting the same track 3 times as it is now.

It happens. This was a refurb I got when my launch console red ringed, so this one doesn't even have an HDMI port.

Time to upgrade to new hardware and sell the refurb'd one you get back.

My PS3 dying was my first console failure ever, and I was fairly upset about it. I love that 360 owners can just shrug it off like that.

Awesome warranty.

It's kinda like waking up to find it rained the day after you washed your car. Annoying and slightly inconvenient, but nothing too tragic :)

Yeah, my PS3 also died on me. That one was a bitch, because I had to pay for the refurb and had to make sure they were giving me back a 60GB system, because I use that to play SACD's and for other functions that were removed from the slim. The 360 is more easily interchangeable.

Just Lacuna Coil and maybe Amberian Dawn so far. Definitely interested in Bullet w/Butterfly Wings whenever that hits though.

My second 360 RRODed the same day as the Apocalyps3. I'm guessing it jumped the gun and committed suicide thinking the world was ending. Mailed it off today.

I want to download RBN songs.

Report back with how that Live Flogging Molly song is. The preview was really sketchy.
