I started to watch it but then saw it was rated S for spoilers. So I stopped.

The video review Fandango posted restored my faith in the game. It has a warning against spoilers but there wasn't too much in there that wasn't in trailer that came with the demo.

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)

Oh, maybe I'll watch it after all.

I Just watched it. Pretty good

Tuesday can't get here fast enough.

I was reading the Game Informer that had a preview of the game a few months back, and my favorite part was where it talked about a scene with his kid. The guy playing it decided to drink beer in a dark corner and ignore his kid begging for food

I am so gonna be the bad guy

It looks pretty interesting but the controls are a pain in the ass to me.
Exactly my opinion after the demo. I struggled with QTE during my playthrough of both GoWs, I'm not the least bit interested in an entire game of it.

I expect to hear a lot of that complaint, but as the Game Spot review points out, that's really not what this game is.

How will they be handling trophies in this game?

If the QTE during the demo upset you, don't bother with the game. The entire games a giant QTE that you control while watching a drama unfold. It's still amazing and the most intense game I have ever played, and i HATE HATE HATE quick time events!

The trophies are all secrets and I have only unlocked about 10. I won't give any away of course, but they are kind of story based and require you do handle scenes a certain way and not mess up.

Do people go all out for trophies like they do for achievements?

I like achievements much better than trophies. For one, it's actual points as part of your gamer score.

The PS3 trophies you don't get points, just levels. Plus, it's a little chime with a box in the top right corner. Achievements are right there, in your face, you know you got them.

Agreed, but the flip side is that Trophies are stratified. You don't get the same "credit" for a super-easy achievement as you do for a super hard one. If you've got a bunch of gold trophies and a few platinum ones, you EARNED them, you didn't just spend ten minutes with fifty games last year via Game Fly. That counts for something, I think.

Well that's where you see the amount of points, but I agree, there are some games that give out points like candy.

Nobody I know really cares about PS3 trophies. Half the time, I don't even realize I get a trophy

PS3 Trophies and Achievements are essentially the same thing. They're earned by achieving the same objectives only on different systems. The differences are in the point values and how they "let you know" that you've earned them. Knocking one for the other just reeks of fanboyism.

The way I see it, Trophies and Achievements suck equally. The only time either had any value was when Ubisoft used them in their Uplay system.

Give me something tangible for earning your Trophies or Achievements. If not they're meaningless and pointless.

I thought it was called "having an opinion".

Not really fanboyism when you own the system being talked about, and especially when you can't wait to play a game exclusive to said system.

It's not like I said "Damn, why can't this be on the 360? Trophies suck!"

The 360 has done that before with achievements, they ran a contest awhile back. I have heard rumors that both systems have plans for them to mean more than just bragging rights.

No...that would be somebody going to the work of tracking down all the comments from Sony about how an achievement like system is not needed on the PS3.

In other news.....HEAVY RAIN TOMORROW OMGZ!

Can't wait to sit down with it tomorrow night!

There is something oddly more satisfying to Achievements vs. Trophies, but both are ultimately worthless.

I've never really understood their appeal either. Isn't just a way to tell the world you just might be spending too much time playing video games?

As far as the REAL topic of this thread, I'll finally have a reason to spend my $20 Best Buy gift card today. Heading out during lunch to pick up a copy.

When it comes to discussing the game, please keep any major plot outline in spoilers. Before the spoiler, please give as much info as you can to give context. That way, people can see if you're playing the same as them before hitting a spoiler.
