Nope, that's not one of those. It looks almost like a male to male USB extension cord.

Looks like the extension cable that came with the kinect to plug the wireless adapter to the front of the system.

Damn, I thought someone would shout out quick. Whatever it is, I guess it wasn't very necessary. Why would you need such a short USB extender. This is driving me nuts wondering what it was used for.

Extension cable for the Wifi adapter? Images in Google seem to look like the one you took.

Dang, I forgot about that. There was a mini-usb that went into the drive and then a regular usb that went into the actual xbox, correct?
Thanks for the suggestions. I am gonna hunt some youtube videos or google or something so I can try to figure this mystery out. Ugh.

Not that it helps but I found this same cord today still in its package and it says it's for the fat Xbox not the slim. At least that's what the picture on the package says. Lol

Does it show what it is used for at all? I am selling my fat Xbox elite so I guess I should just throw it in.
I just don't want a buyer to get it and then think they are missing something because they don't know what it is for either.

Thanks for the picture Decker. You are correct. Not there. Guess I will hang on to it but this is still going to drive me batty. I was trying to think if there were any old accessories in the past that used this usb extension cable but I can't think of any or find any.

Really quick question about tomorrows update: will I be ble to log in at a friends house to play multiplayer games (like Dance Central or Rock Band) and still earn my own achievements?

You always could. Just move your profile to a USB storage device and plug it into their xbox.
You can recover your profile online without using a storage device, if you chose to do it that way, but it's time-consuming and a pain.

Ah ok! Lol I never knew! So with the cloud will you still have to go through all of that rigamorol?

Yup. The cloud stuff is totally useless. Just allows you to save your game to a cloud storage "device" instead of to your hard drive. I guess you could copy your game saves to the cloud and retrieve them at your friend's house, but it's just easier to use a USB for that as well in your situation.

UFC, YouTube, Daily Motion and Verizon FiOS coming later this month. HBOGo and Xfinity coming sometime in 2012.
With this update, however, roughly 40 TV and entertainment providers will offer an assortment of movies, music and television choices on the console, greatly expanding the system's capabilities. Hulu Plus, premium cable movie channel Epix and MSNBC's The Today Show are part of the launch lineup in the U.S., with content from Youtube and Dailymotion coming later this month. A dedicated UFC channel will also be live before the end of the year.
Not all of the new content is free, however. You'll need to be an Xbox Live Gold member ($60 annual fee) to sift through on-demand services, and many of the new channels will only work if you're already a subscriber. Netflix and the upcoming HBO Go (due on Xbox in 2012), for instance, require separate active subscriptions.
--------------------
The update is not without a minor setback, however. While a few heavy hitters are already on board, two of the biggest U.S. partners -- Comcast and Verizon's FiOS service -- are absent at launch. Verizon subscribers won't be able to use their Xbox as a limited set top box until later this month, while Comcast's Xfinity service (which plans to offer on-demand content, but not live TV) won't be available until an undetermined date early next year.

to no HBOGo tomorrow. That's a disappointment.
Epix is worthless to me since Directv doesn't carry the channel.

I just looked around online and noone knows for certain if Directv will authorize HBOGo for the XBox. Directv has already said they won't support HBOGo for the Roku.

Make sure your cable company supports HBOGo on the Roku. I've got Comcast, and they don't support it.
HBO GO is only available through participating television providers. On Roku devices, the following television providers offer HBO GO free as part of your HBO subscription: AT&T U-Verse TV, Charter, Cox, DISH Network, Massillon Cable/CPI, RCN, Suddenlink, Verizon FiOS and WOW!.
