Once you set up the Kinect ID thing it is really easy to sign in. They sit/stand in front of the thing and wave at the screen - it then scans their face and logs them in.
Also, my daughter (6) has no issue signing herself in with the controller. She chose her gamerpic and designed her avatar so even if you have a kid who can't read they can recognize their picture. FWIW her account isn't even a Silver account and is only local because she wanted a name that was already taken. As far as I can tell though, the sign in procedure isn't any different for local/Silver/Gold. |

Honestly, the carrying (and forgetting) of my profile back and forth via thumb drive was a pain in my ass. So I ended up getting a cheap hard drive for my downstairs Xbox and a 1 year sub to Xbox Live for $35 and just hooked my kids up. The basement Xbox is now the "community" Xbox and the one on my 3D TV in the bedroom is MY Xbox. |

Secret Armory is great (as is Claptrap). They both have tons of content that really extends the game more and more. The only DLC pack I'm missing is Mad Moxxie, but don't really think that one appeals to me much.
BTW, how crazy is it that I'm still playing this game weekly after 15 months? Or that I'm still only level 41 after all that time? How the hell are some of you in the 60s? |

I think I got the first GTA IV DLC when it was released. And I still haven't even started it.

Is it this week there was going to be some Dance Central DLC on sale?

Thanks for the links to the HD swap videos. I had no idea the older ones could be shoe-horned into the new boxes so now my son has an old 20g in his shiny new 4g rig.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Oh that post was directed towards Sominex if he was interested. The 4gb without kinect is also usually 150ish. They had a 250gb without kinect for $200 earlier today as well.
And sominex thanks for such a friendly response to my response. Glad you're doing better, didn't know anything about proposals or getting hit by cars (sheesh!) or any of that. Good luck with the recovery (and the proposal?) and have fun gaming. |

My Xbox has started having issues when I hit the eject button. It will make a chug sound like it is trying to open the tray but then won't. It happened every so often a long time ago but got back on track. Now it is happening more often... I have a distinct feeling it is going to die on me soon.

They don't do repairs here in Canada. We just have relay stations. So, I requested a new console (I didn't want someone's dirty/possibly broken refurb,) and luckily got one. I still have it, as this was a couple of years ago. |

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Just a headsup, XBox Live 12 Month subscription card is on sale at Target for $44. I went ahead and picked one up even though my subscription doesn't expire for another 5 months. It doesn't hurt to be ahead of the game and the $15 discount is nice. I know there are better deals online, but this is the best B&M deal I've seen for the subscription in a long time.

Thanks. Since Amazon stopped selling codes, I made my last 2 points purchases at full price directly from the dashboard when I needed them fairly quickly due to a sale and/or desire for instant gratification. Didn't realize until I saw my bank statement that they add tax on top too. I might grab a couple now to be prepared ahead of time.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
I have an Elite and an Arcade. The Arcade is at a house without Internet (don't ask). Can I buy stuff with the Elite, save it to the hard drive, and then use it on the arcade by taking over the hard drive? I know I can just go and try it, but I'm making plans and wanted to see if I could find out beforehand if it would work =) I was thinking of buying workouts for my workout games and songs for the dance games.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
Not without Internet (don't ask).
|
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
No. But you could swing the arcade to your place, buy the stuff while connected on that one, and then use them on your elite (if it's connected to XBL). I believe.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
So you CAN use stuff you bought at one XBOX with another XBOX as long as there is Internet connectivity, and you can use stuff bought at one XBOX in that same XBOX even when the Internet is shut off?

You can also transfer stuff over to the second Xbox if you want to use it offline with that machine via a pretty clumsy process. But you can only have access to it offline on one machine. |
re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
That'd work, and it makes perfect sense, because if it didn't work this way you could just buy stuff once and share with everybody. Thanks :) Seems like the best thing to do is make one trip and load it up.

re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines
You could always tell your boyfriend to get internet or your going to hold out :)
