Raven Squad for XBox 360---Is it as bad as the reviews say it is?

I got this game for Christmas from a friend and have yet to open it. I read a few reviews including the one on Amazon.com and everyone seems to think this game sucks balls. I don't have a receipt for it and have no idea where my friend got it friend. Should I go ahead and try it or should I dump it to a Gamestop or FYE? I noticed FYE will buy it for $14.
Checked a few prices online and the price of this game new ranges from $19.99 to $49.

Ranked #776 out of 794 at Metacritic. So yeah, I suppose there are worse games you could play. Eighteen of them, to be exact.

Look, it's very simple : You keep it wrapped, wait until his birthday, then you give it back to him by saying something like "I liked this game you got me so much, I bought a copy for you!". What can he say then?

Alright just an update.
Got rid of the game. Took it to Walmart and exchanged it for a Gift Card. Turns out the game is $39.96 there. Afterwards, I used it to pick up a couple of new CD's and a movie.
Already had Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, so I didn't need to add another 1st person shooter to my collection, let alone a shitty one.
Got rid of the game. Took it to Walmart and exchanged it for a Gift Card. Turns out the game is $39.96 there. Afterwards, I used it to pick up a couple of new CD's and a movie.

Just got it as a rental from Gamefly and while it had an interesting premise (the option of FPS or playing in the "tactical" view) the execution was pretty poor.
